This year's annual fundraiser and book drive went great! We raised money by selling chocolate advent calendars. Our students are amazing. We took about 60 of our top selling students to Valley View Elementary to deliver books to the kids. Each student at Valley View was able to take home a couple books! The Wahlquist Choir joined us and performed for elementary students. Our kids helped the younger grade kids find books that they wanted. After our time there, we went to Pizza Pie Cafe and then to Rush Funplex to party. Such a fun tradition!!
This year Wahlquist Officers and Cheerleaders shopped for 29 kids in 9 families to help with Christmas! Thanks to the parents who helped us wrap the gifts in record time.
We really want to thank the students and staff at Wahlquist for contributing so much money to be able to shop.
NJHS Service Project- making cards for people in an assisted living center
National Junior Honor Society students created personalized holiday cards for every resident in a local assisted living facility, taking time to add thoughtful messages and festive designs. Their kindness brought genuine joy and warmth to the residents, many of whom were touched to be remembered during the holiday season.
The residents were deeply touched and delighted by the cards, kindness, and generosity shown to them. They asked that we thank the WJH NJHS students, sharing that you truly brightened their holidays. They appreciated the thoughtful gestures and said they absolutely loved the cards!
On December 5, 2025, Wahlquist’s 7th‑grade girls attended the Women of the Workforce (W.O.W.) Conference, hosted by Weber High School’s DECA and FBLA chapters at Weber State University. Designed to inspire and inform, the event introduced students to a wide range of career paths—especially those where women have been traditionally underrepresented. Throughout the day, students heard from accomplished women in real estate, medicine, business and marketing, infrastructure, finance, education, computer science, entrepreneurship, and engineering, gaining firsthand insight into the skills, opportunities, and possibilities waiting for them.

GREAT JOB EAGLES!!!!!
Our school Garden Club pulled the annuals from our garden beds, then covered the beds with leaves to prepare for winter. The leaves give pollinators like bumble bees a place to overwinter. The leaves also add organic matter to be turned into the soil in the spring. We enjoyed working in our school garden.
The NJHS got outside enjoying nature, getting exercise geocaching, learned team building, grant and scholarship applications, and participated in service. We appreciate the staff, parents, and helpers who were integral to our success today. The holiday cards made were so thoughtful and will be appreciated by local seniors. What a great experience that will live on with us all!
WAHLQUIST ELA TEAM!
Dear Wahlquist ELA Team,
I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work happening in your department who are leading the district in ALL three grade levels with your CommonLit data. WOW! This is an outstanding achievement and a direct reflection of your collaboration, focus, and commitment to your students.
The data clearly shows that teams who work together—analyzing early assessment results, setting focused and specific goals, and following through with intention—see powerful gains in student proficiency. Your success is a perfect example of how thoughtful teamwork turns data into growth.
This kind of excellence doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a team that trusts, collaborates, and supports one another—and that’s exactly what you’ve demonstrated. It also speaks volumes about the supportive leadership at Wahlquist Junior High, where administrators foster a culture that values both collaboration and academic growth.
I’ve included the fun “selfie” we took to celebrate—with Crackerjacks in hand—because you truly are hitting it outta the ballpark!
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for setting such a strong example for the district. -Sincerely, Kim Irvine

Student Gov organized a field trip to hike to "The Major", a 150'x78' American Flag hanging in Cold Water Canyon by The Major Brent Taylor Foundation. Teachers nominated students to go on the field trip as an incentive. Josh Johnson, an MBTF volunteer (and Sr. Saunders' brother), told the group the backstory about how the flag came to fly in North Ogden.
After the hike in beautiful weather, we enjoyed lunch at Pizza Pie Cafe. Jennie Taylor visited us and talked about how we can better thank veterans for their willingness to serve to protect the freedoms we enjoy. Take action and advantage of opportunities that come into your life and work to make "a more perfect union" every day.
Mrs. Acosta hosted a Halloween craft in the library and let kids get creative while decorating their own buddy skeleton.
For October's read aloud the Life Skills class heard the story of Pumpkin Jack. Students can come in over the course of the school year to see how our own Pumpkin Jack is decomposing. With any amount of luck, we'll have pumpkin starts in the Spring!
Our 7th Grade Officers were in charge of our trunk this year. They represented us well with a Peanuts Gang theme. Thanks for your planning and hard work!
Our Chromebook specialist consistently goes above and beyond, providing exceptional support and expertise to students and staff alike. With a deep understanding of Chromebook technology, they troubleshoot issues quickly, ensure devices are always ready for use, and keep everything running smoothly. Their dedication, patience, and proactive approach make them an invaluable part of the team and a true tech hero. Thanks Tami for all you do!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing custodians at Wahlquist junior high school. Whether it’s early mornings, late nights, or behind-the-scenes tasks, your efforts do not go unnoticed. We truly appreciate everything you do to support our students, staff, and community. Thank you!

We are excited to shine the spotlight on our new shop teacher, Jordan Brown, who has quickly made a positive impact at our school. Although this is his first year teaching, he brings a wealth of real-world industry experience and a genuine passion for helping students learn and grow.
From the very beginning, he established clear, positive rules and procedures in his classroom. He not only taught them but also consistently reviews them with students to ensure everyone feels supported and knows what success looks like. The result is a shop environment that is friendly, inviting, and encourages students to think creatively and innovatively.
Beyond the classroom, Jordan has fully immersed himself in our school community. He has taken on an assistant coaching role and regularly attends events to cheer on and support students. His dedication to both teaching and school culture demonstrates his commitment to becoming the best educator he can be.
We are grateful to have Jordan on our team and look forward to the continued impact he will make on our students and school community! -Melissa Judkins
The Hale Centre Theater is amazing! Their performance of “Sister Act” was spectacular! The nun’s church was set in a Gothic style Roman cathedral with flying buttresses, which I have been teaching about in Art 1. That was an academic connection. Also, I laughed, cried, and gained a greater understanding of love for all during the performance. What a great message! - Mrs. Parslow
For Hispanic Heritage Month, our LIA class created & decorated posters of famous Latinos with interesting facts about them. They then displayed these posters in the main hall for all students to see and learn about.
WE ARE EXCITED TO INTRODUCE SOME NEW STAFF MEMBERS FOR THIS YEAR! WELCOME TO WAHLQUIST!

We have Monarch Caterpillars! They are currently undergoing metamorphosis into the chrysalis stage. We are also in the harvest season in our school garden.
We had a Monarch Butterfly hatch today during school! Here it is filling its wings and drying on a flower!
They were divided into 6 random teams and were given some balloons and a roll of tape. They had 15 minutes to see who could work together the best and build the tallest, free-standing balloon tower. The winning team's tower was over 5 feet tall!
911 Museum Exhibit in Wahlquist Library!
As a former history teacher, I love to look for opportunities for students to interact with and understand the past. In memory of 9/11, I created a museum exhibit in my library. I was fortunate enough to have some newspapers given to me from September and October of 2001, and curated more primary and secondary sources to create my display.
