SOJH is excited to share our commitment to preparing future-ready learners & leaders through our comprehensive Digital & Media Literacy program. We have worked to develop a new curriculum this year (2025) aligned with Utah State core standards for digital literacy and digital citizenship. Although the plan is titled Digital & Media Literacy, it covers a broad scope of essential topics, including digital literacy, fluency, and citizenship principles. This curriculum has differentiated lessons for each grade and will be taught monthly, focusing on age-appropriate topics like internet safety, digital footprint awareness, online communication and cell phone etiquette, and copyright. 

To ensure this digital citizenship curriculum is available to the community—a key goal of WSD's Elevate 28 Strategic Plan (Priority 3, Goal #7)—we are posting our full scope and sequence, as well as a monthly breakdown below for parents and guardians. This curriculum will be continually revisited each year to ensure student success (Priority 2, Goal #4).

For our Digital & Media Literacy plan to be most successful, we strongly encourage parents and guardians to discuss these topics at home with your student(s). Taking a few moments to talk about internet safety, respectful online communication, or the permanence of a digital footprint will greatly strengthen your student's ability to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely. 

SOJH se complace en compartir nuestro compromiso de preparar a los estudiantes y futuros líderes mediante nuestro programa de Alfabetización Digital y Mediática. Este año (2025) hemos desarrollado un nuevo plan de estudios alineado con los estándares de Utah en alfabetización digital y ciudadanía digital. Aunque lleva este título, abarca temas esenciales como seguridad en internet, huella digital, comunicación en línea, etiqueta en el uso del celular y derechos de autor. Las lecciones están diferenciadas por grado y se impartirán mensualmente.

Para que toda la comunidad tenga acceso a este plan—un objetivo clave del Plan Estratégico Elevate 28 de WSD (Prioridad 3, Meta #7)—publicamos el alcance y la secuencia completos, junto con un desglose mensual para padres y tutores. Este plan se revisará cada año para asegurar el éxito estudiantil (Prioridad 2, Meta #4).

Para lograr el mayor impacto, animamos a los padres y tutores a conversar en casa sobre estos temas. Dedicar unos minutos a hablar sobre seguridad en internet, comunicación respetuosa en línea o la permanencia de la huella digital fortalecerá la capacidad de su estudiante para navegar el mundo digital de forma responsable y segura.
