District Champions for III consecutive years!
The National Academic League (NAL) is a junior high academic competition program that combines academic knowledge with aspects of team sports, such as strategy and teamwork. The competition is divided into a Buzzer/Quiz team and a Presentation Team. Roy Jr. High has a long tradition of high performing NAL teams and we look forward to seeing which new competitors will shine each year.

National Academic League Team Disclosure:
NAL (National Academic League) is an academic sports program for students.
The game includes four quarters, each 10 minutes long where students answer questions individually and as a team. Questions include math, science, history, english, music, and literature topics.
During the 3rd quarter, several students will give a presentation based on information that they have researched during the previous days. They will stand-up in front of the audience, with posters and note cards and present both pros and cons of the selected subject.
Practice sessions are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:45 PM until 4:15 PM.
Normally games are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays. In order to qualify to play in or accompany the team to a game, students must attend and participate in practice regularly.
If for some reason a student must miss a practice,
the coaches must be notified in advance.
A fee of $100.00 dollars is required to be paid in full before the first game. If the student(s) are on fee waivers please submit the slip stating so with the rest of the forms.
$65: Participation Fee (Uniforms, salaries, officials)
$25: Additional Fee (equipment, storage items, staffing, judges)
$10: Transportation
The team will take the bus from Roy Jr. to the school where the competition is to take place. Students are expected to return with the team on the bus to the RJH after the game. If parents want to take their students home directly from the game, they must notify the coaches prior to the event. Additionally, students will not be allowed to leave with other team member’s parents.
The student must be in good standing with their individual teachers with regard to citizenship and academic performance.
This is a very energizing and fun activity for all students participating.
If you are going to allow for your student to be part of our NAL team please signup on Activate AFTER making the team.
By signing up on Activate, you also agree to give consent for your student to travel to other schools in order to participate in NAL games.
Thanks, Mark Sanders/Maria Georgiou/Mandi Harrison, Coaches
