State Math Contest Practice Sessions:

Welcome to State Math Contest practice!

1) State Contest is on Wed. March 4 at Weber State University during the school day. Meet by the knight at 8:00 a.m. Leave Weber State at 12:25 p.m., arrive at NOJH before 1:30 p.m.

2) Please turn in Permission slips, and pay $10 fee to Mrs. Kelly in the office. Bring receipt to me.

Mon. Feb. 24:

3) Topics/Handouts: MathCounts Toolbox: Study Section VI definitions. Previous: Section V, Pythagorean Theorem, Pythagorean Triples, Special Right Triangles. Section V, Formulas Distance formula to Heron's formula. Study sections I and II, Prime Numbers and Fractions, Decimals, and Percents, Sections IV and V to distance formula.

4) Assignment: 2018 State Math Exam #'s 1-9. Previous: #1-40. We will go over some of the solutions. The answers will make a lot more sense if you have thought about and tried to solve the questions first. You can see solutions here: 2019 Solutions On the same web page, you can also download other past exams and solutions for extra practice. Have your parents and older siblings help you at home. I would be happy to help you at anytime.

5) Check out an Art of Problem Solving Math Competition book. Get an edge on the competition.
