Weekly Calendar and Assignments

Dear Parents and Students,

Can you believe September is already 1/2 over?! Did you see the full moon on Friday the 13th?! Ask your child about the moon phases and what they're called. We have a test tomorrow! Just a few upcoming events:

  • Wasatch Savings Fundraiser ends on September 20th. Sell lots of books!! (or bring the book back if you don't want to do it.) They are $30. We have sold a lot already!
  • Sept. 18th: Parent Party Planning Meeting r
  • Sept. 20th: EARLY OUT at 1:05 for Professional Development for teachers
  • Sept. 25th: Superintendent Summer Reading Awards
  • Oct. 9th: Grandparents' Day.
  • Oct. 14-16th: Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Oct. 17-18th: Fall Break. NO SCHOOL

Reading

  • Read 30 minutes every night and write a brief summary of what you read. Turn it into the reading basket the next day with your parent's initials on it.
  • Collection 1--Facing Fears. We are working on Plot. We will be reading Fears and Phobias.
  • Book Report for September and October is on Mystery. They will do a project on it and it is due on Oct. 21st. Mrs. Connell handed out the packets in her class rotation.
  • BEAR reading. Make sure you are entering them in on the google classroom and fill in each slide as you finish your books. Have fun!

Language Arts

  • We are working on a daily grammar practice--pronouns--reflexive, possessive, spelling, nonrestrictive elements.

Math

  • We are working on Number Systems from the Common Core. If you miss a day, here is a link that Mrs. Connell has set up. https://sites.google.com/wsd.net/kconnell/math-resources
  • We are working on Integers, absolute values, rational numbers, opposite numbers, coordinate planes, and ordering them. We will be doing lessons 6-9, and 6-10 with a quiz, review and test this week.

Mrs. Connell

  • Computer and Social Studies will be taught by Mrs. Connell. She handed out their book report packets for the MYSTERY book report. Please make sure you are working on it! They are working on Prehistoric civilizations in S.S.--Mr. Carr is her student teacher and he is teaching this rotation now.

Mrs. Lay

  • will be teaching PE/Health/Music--Nova was also taught this week. NOVA was today with Deputy Malan.

Mrs. Davis & Mrs. Hislop

  • We are learning the Sun, Earth, Moon System, phases of the moon, eclipses--solar & lunar. We have a test tomorrow, so please study!

Mrs. Sullivan

  • Writing--making a claim and using evidence.
