Through the Little Longhorns Early Childhood Program, West Field High provides an opportunity for high school students to be trained as childcare workers in a daycare or preschool setting. Early Childhood Education 1, 2, & 3 students will have ample experience in observing and seeing first-hand the developmental stages and levels of small children. Early Childhood Education students will assist with and have hands-on experience in teaching children, under the direction of the Early Childhood Teacher and Early Childhood Lab Facilitator. High school students will develop lesson plans in math, art, science, music, and language. These lesson plans will be coordinated with the weekly and monthly preschool themes.
