Innovation High works closely with Weber State University advisors to help students determine which college pathway is best for them. Through Weber State University, high school students are able to earn either a Certificate of Proficiency, a Certificate of Completion, or an Associate Degree. Students and parents are encouraged to have continuous conversations with their Innovation High counselor and their Weber State University advisor to determine which pathway is best for the student.
Note: An Associate degree is not "2 years off college". College programs follow a general outline where years 1-2 encourage students to complete required general education requirements and prerequisite classes for their programs. Years 3-4 are generally dedicated to completing all upper level courses required to complete the major of study.
College electives and high school electives are two very different terms.
High School electives - exploration and discovery. This allows students to take classes to explore interests, engage in hobbies, and experience learneing with a hands-on approach.
College electives - specialization and depth. Students are able to explore interests and hobbies to an extent but a significant portion of the elective credits should go toward prerequisite requirements for upper level courses.
