Hi Country View Colts,I'm Mrs. Thomas, the Country View Elementary reading coach. A reading coach implements many tasks at a school like administering reading tests, analyzing reading data, creating research based interventions, developing professional development, and coaching teachers during their tier 1 ELA instruction.
I believe being able to read at grade level is an essential skill that every child must acquire to be successful in life. My goal is to observe, train, and model for teachers so they can provide meaningful and impactful instruction to their students.
I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade in many different school settings including a 90/90 school, a title 1 school, and a dual immersion school. Working in high poverty schools taught me the importance of having high quality instruction throughout the entire day.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Weber State University. I earned a level 1 and level 2 reading endorsement from SUU. I'm a national reading trainer for Reading Horizons. I have trained teachers across the country in phonics instruction. I have won teacher of the year and was nominated for teacher of the year again 2 years ago. In December 2020 I became a LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) trainer for the State of Utah.
