Hi! My name is Deb Miller and I am a veteran Title 1 teacher. This is my twentieth year at West Salem Elementary. Prior to teaching I was a stay home mom. When my children started school at West Salem Elementary I decided to try my degree out. I began as a teacher assistant at the middle school for five years. During this time I took credits to renew my teaching license at UW-La crosse and my new adventure began! I went on and received my Masters in Reading at the age of 50. You are never too old to be a college student!

My husband Terry and I live in St. Joseph’s Ridge. Terry is retired from the BNSF. We have two children who are both graduates from West Salem High. Our daughter Carey works for Gundersen Health System at the Onalaska site in the Sports Medicine Department. Carey and her husband Mike have blessed us with a grandson named Ethan. Ethan also attends West Salem Elementary. When Ethan moves across the street to the middle school I am retiring before my granddaughter Tara starts school! Tara is the precious daughter of my son Todd. Todd works for Wieser Brothers and specializes in concrete.

It has been a pleasure working at West Salem and getting to know you and your children. It takes a community to raise a child and I am so glad to be able to be a part of that experience!

Hello! My name is Stephanie Zais. I have been teaching for 17 years! My first 10 years of teaching were at Coon Valley Elementary School as a second grade teacher. During my third year of teaching at Coon Valley Elementary School, I also become the Building Dean. In 2010, I was fortunate to be hired at West Salem Elementary for a second grade teaching position. I taught second grade for 6 more years. In 2016, I become the Title 1 Reading Teacher for grades K-2. Reading has ALWAYS been a passion of mine. I love to see a child grow as a reader!

I have two wonderful children named Isabel and Cayden who attend West Salem Elementary School. I love being a mom. West Salem is great place to raise children and is a wonderful community. I look forward to working with you and your child.

My name is Mr. Rieber. I joined the West Salem team in 2016 after serving as the elementary principal at Viroqua Elementary/Montessori School. Prior to that, I taught for eleven years in the La Crosse School District at Logan Middle School and at Southern Bluffs Elementary. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from Viterbo University, attaining principal and superintendent licensure.
