Here you can find important information about your child's Kindergarten year!

Communication 

Please join our class DOJO room. Here you can message me, see photos, our monthly newsletter and other important events that are happening. This is an easy way for us to communicate in one location. I do use class dojo for individual and classroom rewards, but these point values will not be shared with grownups. You can also reach out to me VIA email as well at amy_webb@wrsd.net.

Kindergarten Drop In Day

Where: Our Kindergarten Classroom

Date: Tuesday, August 26th - You will be notified of your child's individual time slot by email sometime the week before school starts.

Snack

The children have a morning and afternoon snack each day.  Please send in a small snack.  It also is helpful to explain to your child which is their snack and which is their lunch.   Putting snack in a separate container or baggie is helpful also. Often children will think that it is lunch time and start eating their sandwich at snack time.

Recess

The children have recess everyday, although we go to the playground more frequently in the fall and spring, many winter days are also spent outside for recess. During the winter months, winter clothing will be needed. 

Birthday Parties

We do celebrate your child’s birthday during our snack time at school.  Due to the great number of allergies, cupcakes or treats for the entire class are not allowed in school.  We will still celebrate with the Happy Birthday song and a birthday crown.  Summer birthdays are celebrated in June.  You may send home birthday invitations through school as long as the whole class is invited.  Please do not send in invitations for a few children as it results in hurt feelings for those not invited. If you wish to receive certain students information, please reach out to me. 

Class Phone Book

In the past, parents have expressed interest in obtaining addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of the children in our class for play dates or birthday party invitations.  Since invitations can not be passed out in class (except if inviting the entire class), we  will send home a list with student information for families who wish to participate.  You are under no obligation to share personal data.  If you wish to be included in our Kindergarten Phone Book, please click the link below and fill in your information.

Bus Information

For the first few days of school, your child will be taken off the bus and escorted by myself into the classroom.  When I am confident that they know where the room is, they can walk by themselves to the classroom. 

It is helpful to your child to keep one consistent dismissal routine.  I realize there will be playdates and other events that necessitates that your child's dismissal routine will change.  In that event, please send in a written note.  I do tell the children for the first month to check for notes in folders.

Drop Off and Pick Up

If you are driving your child to school each morning, please drop them off at the front door of the school.  A teacher will escort them into the classroom to start the school year.  Once they have the routine established, they will walk themselves down to the classroom. 

If you will be picking up your child during the school day, please send in a note that morning and stop at the office when you arrive for pick up.  Your child will be sent down to the office. 

Alternate Dismissal

If your child’s dismissal procedure changes, a note is required.  No child will be released or allowed a different dismissal routine without a note. 

Volunteers

We love to have parent volunteers!!!  Please fill out a CORI form and send it into school.   

You must be CORI checked to enter the main building and that includes all volunteering.  I highly recommend that you do this. Many times a parent will want to volunteer for a special event.  If you do not have a current CORI badge, you will be denied.   CORIs take a few weeks to complete.

This is a general idea of what your child's schedule will look like.  

2025 - 2026 Specials 

Our class special will alternate on a 4 week rotating schedule. I will send home a copy of your child's special schedule in their folder. It is helpful to keep the schedule on your refrigerator or in their folder. I will also send it in the monthly email. Below you can find our class specials schedule! Please make sure your child always brings sneakers on days that they have PE.

Conferences and Report Cards

Conferences will be held in the beginning of October this year.  Report cards will be issued online only through PowerSchool at the end of each trimester.  The dates may be adjusted due to snow days.  

Book Orders

Scholastic Book orders will be sent home almost monthly.  It is a good way for you to purchase books to add to your child’s library.  It is also a chance to add books to our library here at school.  When you order books, we get free books to add to our classroom library. Please do not feel obligated to order.  You can pay for books online or by check.  Payment by check should be made out to Scholastic Books.
