Curriculum overview
In the Wachusett Regional School District, art education empowers all students to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on learning and exploration, students engage with the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks (2019), which emphasize creating, presenting, responding, and connecting. Our program prepares students to express themselves, understand diverse cultures, and make meaningful connections between art and the world around them.
Our department is committed to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality, rigorous learning experiences aligned to state standards. These standards provide the foundation for our curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices, guiding us in setting clear expectations for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. By working collaboratively and aligning our practices to these standards, we can support student growth, close opportunity gaps, and prepare all learners for future success.
