Last year WRPS K-8 students accumulated 39 933 minutes of coding during our Codeathon crushing our goal of 25 000 minutes! That's 665.5 hours!!! This year we are going to aim even higher at 42 000 minutes (700 hours) in total coding time across WRPS. It super easy for you and your class to participate. Use the link at the top of the page register anytime between now and the end of the month. During the week of April 29 through May 8, use the "Record" link at the top of the page to enter in the times your class spends working on coding activities. It's the most fun if teachers can enter their minutes daily so we can watch our meter get closer to the goal over the week.
Any plugged in or unplugged activities that teach coding/programming skills count. You can use the Google Classrooms I have set up, use division STEAM equipment or have kids do something of your own design. Everything counts!!
Throughout the week of Codeathon, Mrs. Dearing will be doing some livestreams. Each stream will look at one of the resources/activities shared on the Google Classroom. If it works for your class to join Mrs. Dearing at these times, please do! Click the links in the table below during the scheduled times to get live access.
If you only see black on this screen you need to:
a) Make sure the camera cover is open by sliding the slider on the top of your monitor
b) Click on the "Secure" button with a lock next to it at the left end of the address bar and make sure camera and microphone are set to "Allow"
It is a good idea to mute your microphone by clicking on the symbol before joining the Meet, especially if you are using your classroom sound system and projector. To avoid echo and feedback loops during whole class Meets, only one participant should have their microphone on at one time. You can mute/unmute your microphone by clicking on it or using CTRL+D
