General Reminders
Attendance
Attendance is the most important element of education. Since the pandemic attendance has been slow to recover, therefore we must work together to support good attendance. We aim to provide you more information and update you on the new processes we have in place to support good attendance over the coming weeks.
Please remember if your child feels unwell during the school day, they should tell a member of staff and they will be dealt with appropriately. They should not be contacting parents/carers and asking to be collected unless this is agreed by the school. If this is the case, the absence may be unauthorised.
Please remember to call the student absence line by 8.50am using the main school phone number if your child is going to be absent. This must include a full reason for the absence. If you do not give a reason, the absence will automatically be unauthorised.
Medical Appointments
Medical appointments should, if possible, fall outside the school day. If you need to collect a child from school, please let us know in advance by leaving a message on the student absence line or speaking to Main Reception.
Student Appearance
The expectations for students' appearance are shown below:
Ear studs - one small stud in each ear lobe
Hairstyle - natural colour and length, no shorter than grade two
Make up - neutral coloured makeup
ParentPay and Catering
There is a small 'buffer' zone available for students to get a meal if there is no credit in their account. Please check ParentPay regularly to ensure that accounts are in credit to avoid this happening. If you would like the 'buffer' to be removed from your child's account, please email finance@writhlington.org.uk.
Please ensure that your child's catering account does not have a debit balance from the end of the school year. Please top it up online or contact Mrs Scott in Finance to pay in cash.
If your child usually purchases food and drink from the school canteen, please make sure their accounts are in credit for the new school year.
Equipment
Please ensure that your child has the correct equipment each day. They should have a bag that is big enough to carry A4 books and the following equipment:
School diary
Scientific calculator
Pencil case containing blue or black pens, purple pen, pencil, rubber and a ruler
Reading book
This equipment will be checked each morning by tutors, using the list above.
Uniform
All uniform orders can be made online through https://www.writhlington.org.uk/key-information/uniform.htm.
Medication in school
If students need to take prescription medication in school, this needs to be brought in by parents with the dosage and times the medication needs to be taken. If a child is required to carry their own medication (insulin for diabetes, epi-pen etc), this will need to be arranged with parents. If you have any queries regarding medication in school, please contact Mrs White.
Nut aware
We are a nut aware school and students should not be bringing nuts into school. We have several students and a member of staff with severe nut allergies, so this is very important.
