SICKNESS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Please remember, if your child feels unwell during the school day they should tell a member of staff and they will be dealt with appropriately. They should NOT contact parents/carers and ask to be picked up unless this is agreed by school. By doing this, the absence may be classed as unauthorised.

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

Medical appointments should, if possible, fall outside the school day. If you do need to collect a child from school please let us know in advance by leaving a message on the student absence line or by ringing Reception.

COVID IN SCHOOL SUMMARY:

1) There is no longer any requirement to test

2) Stay at home only if you feel unwell and/or have a high temperature - there is no requirement to stay away from school just because you have Covid

3) Come back to school when you feel better

STUDENT ABSENCE

Please remember to ring the student absence line by 8.50am using the main school number if your child is going to be absent. Please make sure you leave a full reason for the absence. If you do not give a reason, the absence will automatically be unauthorised. Please refer to the attendance policy on the school website: Attendance Policy

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Students receive £3.20 a day. This will not show on your ParentPay account but is automatically loaded daily to your child’s dining room account and comes up as credit for them to spend at the school canteen.  Some of this may be spent at break time but if students use this at lunchtime they will be able to get a hot meal or cold meal deal which costs £3.20. (Includes a hot meal or sandwich, drink or pudding). You can use ParentPay to add funds for them to use at breaktime if you would like to.

**If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals you can contact the Free School Meals team at BANES on 01225 394317 to check your eligibility or online at https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals . All you need is your National insurance number and date of birth.**

REMINDER: NUT-FREE SCHOOL

Please remember that this is a nut-free school so NO nuts of any kind should be brought into school.

Please make sure your children are aware and do not buy items containing nuts and bring them to school.

PARENTPAY AND CATERING ACCOUNTS

A reminder to all parents/carers to regularly check ParentPay to ensure student catering accounts are in credit.

There is a small 'buffer' zone available for students to get a meal if there is no credit in their account - but this should be repaid immediately and balances topped up to prevent this happening. If you would like this 'buffer' to be removed from your child's catering account please email me. This will mean that your child will not be able to purchase anything from the canteen if there is no money in their account.

Writhlington is a cashless school - if you have not yet set up a ParentPay account for your child, please email finance@writhlington.org.uk  and we will send an activation code to you.

DAMAGED IPADS

iPAD - MDM REMOVAL

Writhlington School follows the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership policy for mobile devices. This means that mobile phones are not to be used in school and mobile devices may only be used in school if they are managed by the school. If a child owns an iPad that is managed by the school they may bring it into school for education purposes. If parents would prefer that their iPads are no longer managed by the school, please click on this link for further details
