Our Weekly Words are shared each week on a Monday. Spell the words with sidewalk chalk. Rainbow write your words. Have a spelling challenge with your family! Create silly sentences with your words. Put your words in alphabetical order. Write your words in shaving cream!
Review our class calendars (found on Talking Points) for ideas on discussion questions and activities to do at home. Talk about the sound of the week and see if you can brainstorm a list of words with that sound! Where can you see math at home? Can you create addition and subtraction questions using toys or cutlery? Can you find geometric shapes and identify the sides the vertices?
Completing home reading each night helps students develop reading strategies and fluency. Reading should be fun! Choose texts that your child enjoys. Ask questions before, suring and after the book to make predictions, make connections to the characters and infer meaning. Reading levels are determined after regular reading check ins with Mrs. Stark. For a link to Home Reading information click here.
We love having families volunteer in our class! If you have time to be a Mystery Reader, please complete the form below!
Planners are currently on hold due to COVID- 19. Planners are a wonderful way to communicate with home and promote organizational skills in our learners. Students add the weekly words in the planners on a Monday. Each day, students add to the planner with important information and updates. Please take some time each night to check the planner with your child so they can share the information with you. If you have a note for teachers, you can write this in the planner as well.
Home Reading logs can be recorded by writing the title of the book in the planner as well.
