Classes have been practicing reading and acting out an AIM (Accelerative Integrated Methodology) play! AIM plays are designed to be digestible for French language learners. Simple, repetitive sentences using frequently used vocabulary builds confidence in the classroom. AIM also uses gestures for every French word to help with retention and comprehension. Many of the gestures and actions are descriptive in nature, so classes can sometimes feel a bit like charades! Junior classes are currently working on "Les Trois Petits Cochons," and doing activities like "Choisis Le Bon Mot" to familiarize themselves with the play content and vocabulary.
Junior classes are focussing on describing feelings, checking in with one-another through spontaneous rehearsed conversations, and describing their preferences. Currently from a grammatical standpoint, juniors are applying colours to nouns and making the necessary "agreements" in order to write accurate sentences.
Junior students continue to enjoy last year's Manie Musicale playlist, which we listen to frequently while working.
We are also working on building endurance when it comes to writing, penmanship, and writing in our cahiers, or "workbooks," as they are called in English.
Our festive fall project at the moment is writing recipes for "les potions magiques," where students have to select a number of ingredients and write a recipe for a magic potion. Learners are enjoying using their imaginations and often go off on tangents discussing the limitations (or lack thereof) of their potions and how they would use them.
