Candidates enrolled in Elevate AQ courses are expected to uphold the ethical standards and professional responsibilities outlined in the Ontario College of Teachers’ Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession. Academic integrity is fundamental to professional learning, and any concerns regarding academic dishonesty will be addressed seriously and in accordance with Elevate AQ policies and procedures.
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:
Plagiarism
Cheating
Unauthorized use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools or technologies
Fabrication or citation of fictitious sources
Submission of work previously submitted for credit in another course or program without prior approval
Interference with the academic work of other candidates
As defined in Growing Success: Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting in Ontario Schools (2010), plagiarism is the use or close imitation of another person’s ideas, language, or work without appropriate acknowledgment, representing it as one’s own (p. 151).
The use of generative AI tools must align with course expectations and any guidance provided by the instructor. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that all submitted work accurately reflects their own professional thinking, learning, and understanding, and that any approved use of AI is appropriately acknowledged.
Where academic dishonesty is substantiated, a candidate may be withdrawn from the course and will not be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for successful completion. Course fees are non-refundable. Candidates have the right to appeal decisions in accordance with the established Elevate AQ appeal procedures.
