Bree Olijnyk Valedictorian

Graduated 2024

Bree will be attending Queens University for Engineering next fall!

Bree is a part of our Choose to Lead program, a DECA international competitor, Valedictorian and has earned the Queen's Chancellor Scolarship. She is a standout student athlete who throughout her highschool years was a part of basketball, rugby, alpine skiing, badminton, tennis and semi-pro soccer.

Directly after graduation, I landed a summer internship at Communitech, a tech startup accelerator in the Waterloo Region. I worked on the talent acquisition team, which focused on building programmes that attracted the world's top tech talent to work for Communitech members and Waterloo-based tech companies. Since then, I've been pursuing a degree in engineering at the University of Toronto. Outside of my school-work I am the project manager for a student-run non-profit that is building agriculture research technology to make food production more efficient and accessible. Needless to say, my time at BCI and as part of the C2L program has equipped me with the confidence and skills to pursue my aforementioned endeavours.

Eric Yoon Graduated 2024

Eric will be attending the University of Waterloo to study Computer Engineering.

Eric was a Bluevale Co-Prez and earned an outstanding 99% average in his top six, 4u courses! He has volunteered over 250 hours at Thrift on Kent, and built them a price reference app, after winning a $500 grant from the Youth Creativity Fund. He received the France-Anne Sweeney and Jamhacks 7 Best Financial Hack Awards. He was an important part of our Choose 2 Lead program and is the Sir Isaac Newton Exam School Champion, DECA Executive, and Math Club leader.

Currently a 2nd year student at the University of Waterloo for a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Co-op experience at AMD (Fortune 500 computer chip company) and Braze Mobility (Accessibility Technology start-up).

Owen is pursuing an apprenticeship as an Electrician after a great career in Junior B hockey.

I've just started Teacher's College at Laurier! I am excited to begin my career in education. Through my time in my undergrad, I played Varsity Lacrosse.

I'm in my 2nd year of an undergrad program at the University of Waterloo. I'm the Planning Coach at CrossFit Kids and also work with Special Olympics Powerlifting. Since graduating I have had the opportunity to go camping in Banff Alberta.

Kevin Chen Graduated 2020

Hey guys, I'm currently studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I haven't declared my major yet, but I'm thinking of double majoring in Film Scoring and PRO music. I love writing original songs and I hope to work at an anime studio writing soundtracks for them. Here's a pic of me and my friends kayaking down the Charles River!

Max Hutchinson Graduated 2019

I’m finishing off my flight school training in my Conestoga-WWFC aviation program. I’ve been flying across Ontario. I've even taken a few friends up for flights! Whenever I'm not flying I'm either studying, working on a car or hanging out with friends so not much has changed there!

I went into Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph where I was a member of the Guelph Gryphons Varsity Field Hockey Team. I completed a Masters in Science next and am now in Teacher's College at Western.

Graduated from Conestoga College in Architecture-Construction Engineering Technology. Currently working as a Project Manager at Academy Construction.

Jordan Faiczak Graduated 2017

I'm in my 5th year at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I'm majoring in Computer Science and Physics. I am also playing Varsity Field Hockey for UBC and the women's National Team! Since graduating from BCI I have travelled to China, Chile, USA, Belgium and Ireland for field hockey. Most recently, I helped Canada win gold at the Junior Pan Am Championship in August 2021 in Chile.

Ben Bergen Graduated 2017

Since graduating from Bluevale and the C2L program in 2017, I've been completing a degree in Chemistry and Physics at Carleton University. At Carleton I've had the opportunity to work in the LADDER research lab and volunteer as a peer mentor with the Science Student Success Centre. I've also been able to complete some really interesting co-op placements. This summer I was a chemist at Health Canada's Product Safety Laboratory, where I tested the safety of toys and cosmetics. Before that I worked as an air quality data analyst for Environment and Climate Change Canada. Beginning next year, I'm planning on pursuing a Masters in Atmospheric Science.

I'm in my last year at Concordia University, completing my last semester in Singapore. I have accepted a job offer at a sports consulting firm (where I interned summer 2021). I just finished off my last year on Concordia's Varsity Rugby team.

Since graduating, I have spent a lot of time travelling. I have completed my BBA at Wilfrid Laurier University and worked in three different countries. Now, I’m at Queen’s University completing a double Masters while working in a marketing department for a growing startup. I now work for Arctic Wolf, a cyber security company based out of the US. I love to travel and have spent lots of time abroad. After Bluevale, I got my BBA from Laurier and a Bachelors of Computer Science from Waterloo.
