Join in as a family to share the songs you know! A new song challenge will be posted every school day on the Cedarbrae Music Homepage. Brainstorm and share your songs on the google form
Go for a nature/neighbourhood walk with your family.
Pay attention to the sounds you hear. Can you list the sounds that are:
Nearest/Farthest?Loudest/softest Highest/Lowest?
Which sounds are made by people? By machines? By creatures? By nature?
As a family, try to take a song you already know and create new lyrics about your experiences during this pandemic.
What do you miss?
What new things are you learning?
What are you doing to keep yourself busy?
How are you feeling?
Use items you can find in your kitchen to make music. Some examples may be bowls, spoons, pots, glasses with water in them, even cups!
Can you scrape it? Hit it? What items make high sounds? Which make low sounds? What utensil/container combination makes the best drum sound? The best cymbal sound?
Put on some music and dance! Can you show the music in your body? Is it fast music? What does that look like in your body? Is it slow, smooth music? What does that look like?
Experiment with different types of music and dance as a family!
One of our favourite family activities is a bubble dance party. We go out on the back deck, blow some bubbles and dance to our favourite music!
Put together a concert to perform for your family. Think of some of the songs we learned in music class:
Primary: Holiday Concert Songs, Tongo, Cat Came Back, Rocky Mountain
Juniors: You could play a recorder songs or sing O Canada, or pick a song from your favorite movie.
Choose a family-favourite, and play along!
Pick a song your family loves to listen to. Put it on, and then play along using either instruments you have around the house or found objects like in the 'Kitchen Band' activity above. Can you keep the beat? Make an interesting rhythm to go along with the song?
