We have now completed our review of the kindergarten expectations for knowing your letters and sounds. Please keep practicing letter formation at home if your child requires it. 

We will now begin our UFLI lessons for Grade 1. You will receive a home practice sheet every Monday/Tuesday that you can review with your child at home. This is the best way you can be involved in your child's learning. There is an explanation sheet under the UFLI tab to help you through this process. Also, please let me know if you have any questions. 

We are learning to represent numbers in different ways. We are learning about 10 frames, writing numbers in word form, using place value (tens and ones), using a number line, and comparing and ordering numbers from least to greatest. We are also going to work on estimating quantities. 

We are learning about healthy eating.

We are learning about where our squad is located in the gym and how to be safe while moving around the gym. We are learning about our three different whistle signals: 

1 whistle blow - stop; 

2 whistle blows - stop and sit

3 whistle blows - go back to your squad

We will be learning some cooperative tag games in the next few weeks.

We are learning about seasons.

We are learning about our roles and responsibilities at school and at home.

We are learning about how to be a good audience and presenter.

We are learning about beat, rhythm, loud and soft music and how music is created. We are also enjoying learning new songs while Mme plays her ukulele. 

Core French is being taught by Mme Jessel.

Art is being taught in French and is being taught by Mme Jessel.
