Cookie Incident

Jessie Y.

I was at my friends’ Amy and Sally’s house after Chinese school and we had a snack of chips, cookies, and fruits. I ate many chips and fruits, but then I decided to eat a chocolate chip cookie, but the cookie was so big! I ate half of it but then I got thirsty, so I asked for some water. Meanwhile, Jackie came over and ate five chocolate chip cookies. I was like “WHAT! HOW!?” So anyway, their mom gave me some water and I drank a bit. Then Sally asked me if I wanted to go play a game of “Life” with them. I knew if I didn’t go now I would not be able to play so I put my cookie on a napkin on the counter and went to play with them. Once we were done, I had to go. so I left.

The next day, Amy came up to me and said “Do you remember that half-eaten cookie you left at my house?”

“Yes”

“Well, my dad found it and he said, “What kind of sorcery is this?”

I laughed so hard my belly hurt.

Looking back, I realized it was kind of embarrassing and funny at the same time.

The Big Excuse: Why I Didn’t Practice Piano

By: Jessie Y.

Well, I didn’t practice my piano because I...couldn’t find it! The night I had my last piano lesson, I heard weird sounds, shuffling, and someone banging the piano! I called my mom, but she didn’t answer, probably because she went to the mall. (She goes there all the time when I’m sleeping). I heard nothing, then I realized I needed to get out there but I couldn’t because...my dad always locks my door from the outside! So I listened and listened, I heard the door creak open, then closing.

The next morning, it was gone! I checked the security camera we had and I saw it all! It was a man dressed in all black, a burglar! He came in and looked at the piano. When he heard me shout “mom,” he froze. Then he went to the piano, picked it up and the cover on top of the keys opened and he accidentally hit a few notes. He went to the door and he pushed it open with his back and let it close. Then he ran. I realized I needed to get a piano! So I told my mom to call you and we called you, and called you, but you didn’t answer! So we went to a LOT, LOT, LOT of piano stores but none of them satisfied us. Well, my mom thought they were all too expensive. Then I had to come here. I am usually really happy to come here, but today I was so worried because I thought I would play really bad because I didn’t practice at all!
