Dear Students and Families,

My name is Colleen Wilson, and I have been teaching for twenty-nine years. I love teaching the grade right before middle school so I can better prepare students to transition to secondary school. I am passionate about reading, writing, and technology. Hopefully, I will be able to share my love of books and storytelling with the students while teaching them technology tricks that can help them in their own lives. While advising this year's Student Council, I look forward to working with the future leaders of Wrangell to plan fun and engaging events for the community.

I just moved to Wrangell in July after living in Cordova, Alaska. Before that, I was living in Northern California (around Monterey and San Francisco). I am here with my cat, Zander. My son, Sean, attends San Jose State University, where he studies Computer Science.

The Pacific Northwest Coast is my favorite region of the world. I came to Alaska because I am eager to learn more about subsistence living, like hunting, fishing, and foraging. In addition, I hope to learn more about Tlingit culture and art. I have been fascinated by formline carving and designs for the past thirty years, especially after studying in Vancouver, Canada my senior year of college.

Thank you for your warm welcome and your support during this new school year. It means a lot to me since I came here not knowing anyone, though I heard great things about Wrangell from the people I met on the Inside Passage Ferry.
