Hello Wildcats! My name is Ms. Garnet Fornea. I will be the 6th & 7th grade math teacher at Varnado High School this year. I come from a family full of educators: my father, his sister (my aunt), a few uncles, several cousins, and now my daughter and son-in-law. My family has consisted of teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, principals, school board administrators, and school board members. So, I feel that teaching school is in my blood, and something I was destined to do!
I have one daughter, Cheyenne, who is a teacher at Mt. Hermon School, and my son-in-law Reggie teaches at Wesley Ray Elementary. I have one grandson, Ayce, who was born just a few days after our schools closed for the Covid-19 virus in March. I have one dog Cujo, and one grand-dog Gia.
This school year I will be involved with the same sports, clubs, and activities that I normally participate in, and ENJOY DOING! Softball, Volleyball, and of course my favorite basketball, will be the sports that I coach or assist with coaching. In addition, I sponsor the 4-H and Coalition Clubs, and I am the committee chairperson for Jr. High Homecoming. I enjoy doing each and every one of these activities and cannot wait to get the year started! For more information about these groups, please go to the tabs at the top of this page.
In closing, I would like to say that this past year has been extremely hard for our parish, our country, and our world, but especially for the VHS family and for me personally. We suffered a tremendous loss at VHS and so many people were affected, with some lives being changed forever. So, having said that, I encourage each and every one of you to be nice to each other, you never know what people are going through. A nice word, smile, or wave may actually brighten someone's day. And most importantly, DO NOT BELIEVE NOR SPREAD GOSSIP......YOU MAY FIND OUT THAT YOU WERE WRONG! #LLJD
