classes will consist of individual work, group work, note-taking from lecture, discussion, as well as several interactive activities and projects. Course content will include the following material:

We will also discuss or view current events from local, state, national and international media on a daily basis.

Course Materials: Textbooks will remain in class. The following materials must be with you each day you come to class.

  • Pen or pencil
  • Notebook or binder

Classroom Rules: Students in my class are expected to follow all rules set forth in the student code of conduct as provided by the Washington Parish School Board. Discipline procedures will follow the new Positive Behavior Support initiative set forth by the Franklinton High School administration and faculty. A copy of the Positive Behavior Support Discipline Flow Chart is attached to the back of this document.

Grading Scale: Grades will be based on the following percentages:

A: 100 – 93 B: 92-85 C: 84-75 D: 74-67 F: 66-0

Test Review Policy: The day before each exam, the class will review for the test by playing some type of review game. The object is to reinforce material that has already been covered in class. It is strongly recommended that you are in class for the review. If a student misses a review game they are not allowed to be given extra days for studying for the test. The student will take the test at the same time everyone else takes it. Students will know well in advance when a test is coming. The reviews provide no new information. The review games will not be worth points in the grade book so if a student misses the review it will not hurt their grade, but the review will be conducted only once per test. COME ON REVIEW DAY!

Make-up Work Policy: Students who have an excused absence are allowed 1 week (5 class days) to make up the work they missed for full credit. Each day an assignment is late past the 5 days the student will lose points on that assignment. It is the students responsibility to come to me to find out what work they missed when absent.

All preceding material is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion.
