The Online Classroom

Online learning requires a slightly different set of skills than what in-person learning requires. Still, much is the same. Paying attention to managing one's behavior, goals, and needs will always help individuals succeed. Students should keep in mind the following:

  • ATTENDANCE: Be present. Students can check-in for each class on Infinite Campus. Teachers will verify participation. Have your tech ready, and keep track of time during the school day.

  • USE YOUR RESOURCES: Check Google Classroom daily for each class. Complete assignments by the time they are due. Know where to go when you need help (a friend, a website, YouTube, or a teacher all can be helpful).

  • BE COOPERATIVE: You will be participating in groupwork without the direct supervision of your teacher. When in breakout rooms, you must demonstrate appropriate behavior. Students are asked to report issues from peers not working or acting poorly.

  • KEEP IN CONTACT: If a teacher comments on your work in Docs or Slides, respond! Families should be checking Remind for class announcements or to message the teacher. Don't forget to check your email every day to see if your teacher sent a message to you. If there is a problem at home, let your teachers know.

  • BE MINDFUL: Act as you would in any school setting. Don't engage in behavior that distracts you or others from being your best. Recurring or extreme behavioral incidents will be reported to the Dean, Mr. McCoy.

  • MANAGE YOUR LEARNING: Not all online learning happens individually, nor all in a group. You will have to do both. In the end, you are the learner, and must do the work necessary to grow as a student and as an individual. Set goals during this time and work to accomplish them. Teachers, family, and peers will be available for support to help you,
