Background:
The North High School Internship program began in 1986. Since its inception, NHS faculty have worked every year to expand the internship program in order to ensure that all of our students have an opportunity to gain real world experiences.
Program Goal:
The goal of the North High School internship program is to provide NHS students with an opportunity to gain real world experience in a variety of career fields across the City of Worcester.
We understand how invaluable real world experience can be, and know that with this experience our students will be adequately prepared for post secondary success.
Program Design:
From mid-January to mid-May students leave North High School to participate in an internship Monday - Friday. Interns will have the option to remain at their internship after school hours as a paid Co-Op position. As well as interns can attend their internship sites part-time about 4-5 hours a day. During the course of this program our students shadow professionals in career paths of their choice, gain hands on experience, network with professionals, increase their college and career readiness skills, enhance their resumes, build self-confidence, and accumulate over 100 hours of internship experience.
