Not all learning and development happen in the classroom. There are tons of advantages to joining clubs in high school.
With classes, homework, exams, and the looming responsibility of getting into a good college or university, there is no question that high school is a busy period in everyone’s life. However, if you have a few extra hours to spare each week, joining a club will be well worth your time.
Not only will adding a club or other extracurricular activity to your resume make you more appealing to colleges and universities, but clubs have also been proven to lead to better academic, health, and career outcomes.
From the Teacher: In person or via email, you will need to ask 2 teachers for a letter of recommendation and then make the request in Naviance. This year you need to select teachers for each college specifically; it is easiest if you think of 2 and have them submit to all of the colleges you're applying to. Think of teachers that have a solid understanding of you as a person and as a student. Your Guidance Counselor will also write a letter of recommendation for you. You should give your teachers and counselor a minimum of 3 weeks notice prior to any college application deadline. After you communicate with your teachers proceed to Naviance to submit a request.
Request a Teacher Recommendation in Naviance:
In Naviance select the "Colleges" tab
Select "Letters of Recommendation" which is located under the Apply to College heading
Click "Add Request"
Select the teacher and choose "Select All". If you want a specific teacher to write a letter for a specific school you can select it here.
Submit the request.
From your Guidance Counselor: Most of the 4-year colleges/universities that you are applying to will require a letter of recommendation from your counselor.
In order for your Counselor and some Teachers to write your letter of recommendation please fill out this form.
