Theatre

Theatre is an art form concerned with the representation of people in time and space, their actions and the consequences of those actions. It is the purpose of these classes to integrate this initial creative impulse into formal theatrical structure. Students will learn the various aspects of theatre: acting, stagecraft, set design and construction, directing and play writing. Students will also learn the rich cultural history of the theatre from the time of the Ancient Greeks to Broadway. The Theatre Magnet is a rigorous and demanding program that will help prepare the student to be a performer in the modern age. All students will have various performance opportunities including small and large scale productions, back stage crew, design crew and hosting duties for our many concerts and variety shows. Students will leave the program with a better understanding of themselves and the world around them.
