I am both a first-generation college student and first-generation American! As an undergraduate at Worcester State University, I am majoring in Geography, concentrating on GIS, with minors in Computer Science and Sociology. I was raised in Milford, Massachusetts by my mother and grandmother who migrated to the United States from Brazil. Their influence during my upbringing inspired me to combine my love of computer programming with my love of people.
I believe the best methodology to tackle social issues such as poverty, residential segregation, environmental justice, climate change risk management, public transportation, food security, homelessness, community policing, and public health is spatial analysis using GIS. My career focus will be utilizing computational geography to quantify, qualify and contextualize geospatial data that directly relates to society's most crucial problems.
