The Washington Open Auction is our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year—and it’s also one of the most fun! A lot of heart and hard work goes into making this night a success, and we truly can’t do it without everyone here.
There are so many ways to contribute—whether it’s donating, volunteering, hosting a party, or just showing up to bid and celebrate. In recent years, thanks to this incredible community, we’ve raised over $100,000 in one night!
You’ll be hearing more from our auction committee and your class auction reps, who will be your go-to people for getting involved. Please support your class auction reps—they’re the point person for your classroom and will be guiding your class’s contributions, like the art project or auction baskets or events. They’ll need input and support from all of you to bring these projects to life, so stay connected and lend a hand however you can!
If you’ve done fundraising or auction work before—or if you’re just curious and want to learn more—we’d love to have you join us. It truly takes a village, and every bit of support makes a difference!
The WO Auction supports the majority of programs that make the school an enriching and special environment for our families.
Here are some programs that you are supporting:
45% of the cost of Field Trips (increased from 40%!)
Classroom funds
Art & Music education
Ceramics
Leadership Training
Yard Duty
Community Service Groups (Safety Patrol, Student Council, Green Team, Reader Leaders)
Project Cornerstone & Social Emotional Programs
Science Fair
Technology
And much, much more! (85% of the WOPFG budget)
We encourage every family to donate something to the auction to support our program!
Donations can take many forms and don't have to be costly. Some people donate *new* items, time-shares/ vacations, sporting & event tickets, solicited items from favorite businesses, skills/ talents/ personal business connections to share with the community, handmade items, certificates, food/ wine/specialty items, unique experiences/one-of-a-kind opportunities, childcare/services and many other ideas. Others donated cash and gift cards to help fill gaps in school-wide baskets as well as the very appreciated support given to your class projects.
Ask your class auction reps if they need any further help!
Everyone's involvement is needed and makes a difference.
All families are encouraged to help our auction run smoothly and be successful by volunteering.
There are typically slots available for setting up the auction, working a period of time during the auction, and cleaning up afterwards.
Volunteer sign-ups typically will be available the week before auction.
We hope each family will commit to at least one volunteer spot for the auction.
