Marcy Campbell

Author

Marcy Campbell’s debut picture book, “Adrian Simcox does NOT Have a Horse,” published in 2018 by Penguin Random House, has earned praise from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, School Library Journal, and BookPage, among many others and is a 2018 Junior Library Guild selection. It is currently being translated into six additional languages. Prior to publishing her writing for children, Marcy published short fiction and essays for adults in numerous journals and magazines, including Salon, The Writer, and Ohio Magazine. She holds a master’s degree in creative writing and has taught writing at The College of Wooster and Eastern Michigan University. Marcy is currently writing two picture books for Disney-Hyperion and completing her first middle grade novel. She is an active volunteer within the Wooster City School District.

Kayla Duncan

Intervention Specialist

Kayla is an Intervention Specialist, supporting Kindergarten through 3rd grade students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilities, in addition to students struggling with behavior. She works directly with teachers and support these students both in and out of the classroom. Kayla has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from The University of Akron with a dual licensure in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist.

Rebecca Furlong

Director of Technology

Rebecca is the Director of Technology for Wooster City Schools. She has a total of 24 years of experience in education including 11 years as a middle/high school math teacher and 4 years as a technology resource teacher. Rebecca obtained her Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education 7-12 math & Minor in Computer Science from Ashland University, an Information Technology Diploma from DeVry University and a Masters in Technology from Kent State University.

Alex Garey

Technology Resource Teacher

Alex is a Technology Resource Teacher for Wooster City Schools. He is currently in his 7th year of teaching, 3 of which were spent in the a second grade classroom. Alex obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and holds a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron. Alex is an Apple Teacher, Google Certified Educator, and an Ashland University Adjunct Instructor.

Joni Hiller

3rd Grade Teacher

Joni Hiller is a 3rd Grade teacher at Cornerstone Elementary. This is her 2nd year at Cornerstone but 12th year as a teacher in the Wooster City School District. Previously she was an intervention specialist at Kean Elementary and Edgewood Middle School. Joni has also been an active member of the District Leadership Team since 2010 and was the 2017 recipient of the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator award for SST 9. Joni received her B.S in Early Childhood Education from Wright State University in 2007 and her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist) from Ashland University in 2009.

Erin Hofstetter

Literacy Coach

Erin is a Literacy Coach for Wooster City Schools. She has 15 years of teaching experience, 12 years teaching Kindergarten and first grade. Erin has her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and her master’s in Elementary Education. She enjoys watching students get excited about their reading and writing as well as helping teachers build that excitement and engagement within their classrooms.

Chad Leggett

Technology Resource Teacher

Chad Leggett is in his 11th year as a Technology Resource Teacher for Wooster City Schools. Previously he was a 7th & 8th grade Computer Teacher for 9 years. Chad is an Apple Teacher, Level 1 Google Certified Educator and an Epic! Certified Educator.

Jen Miller

Literacy Coach

Jen Miller's teaching experience includes being a classroom teacher (for elementary grades), a reading specialist, a reading intervention tutor, a Reading Recovery teacher, a language arts resource and mentor teacher, a staff developer, and a literacy coach. Jen is currently a K-8 literacy coach for Aurora City Schools. Her current work involves job embedded PD of highly effective literacy and leadership practices with side-by-side mentoring and coaching of principals, administrators, and lead teachers in order to improve reading and writing achievement, engagement, and enjoyment for all learners.

Diane Mealey

Language Arts Teacher

Diane Mealey has been teaching grades 8-12 for nineteen years at Wooster High School while serving as a member of the Ohio English Language Arts II Content Advisory Committee 2015-2018) as well as a member of the English Language Arts Model Curriculum Revision Team for Grades 9 and 10 (2017).

Suzi Parker

Gifted Intervention Specialist

Suzi Parker is a Gifted Intervention Specialist with the Wooster City Schools. She has over 10 years of experience teaching Literacy and Math to grades 1-4. Suzi has her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Communications, her Masters in Early Childhood Education and a Gifted Endorsement.

Tim Rasinski

Professor

Tim Rasinski is a professor of literacy education at Kent State University and director of its award winning reading clinic. He has written over 200 articles and has authored, co-authored or edited over 50 books or curriculum programs on reading education. He's published numerous best-selling books with Teacher Created Materials and Shell Education, and has also authored books for Scholastic.

Ashley Reed

Technology Resource Teacher

Ashley Reed is a technology resource teacher for Wooster City Schools. She has a Bachelor's Degree in 7-12 Social Studies Education and a Master's Degree in Computer Education and Technology, both from Ohio University. Ashley is an Apple Teacher and Google Certified Level 2 Educator.

Courtney Robinson

Intervention Specialist

Courtney is a middle school intervention specialist. She holds degrees in K-12 Special Education and 4-9 Middle Childhood Education. Courtney is currently in her 4th year of teaching.

Molly Richard

Administrative Intern

Molly has taught a variety of grade levels using playbased learning throughout her career including: preschool, first grade and third grade. She also spent a year teaching Science to preschool - third grade students in a lab setting. She is currently an administrative intern at Cornerstone Elementary School. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Bucknell University, Master's Degree in Education and Psychology from Pepperdine University and Principal Licensure from University of Cincinnati.

Jerren Stevens

Literacy Coach

Jerren Stevens is a Literacy Coach for Wooster City Schools. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a 4th & 5th grade endorsement, a reading endorsement and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy. She has 14 years years of teaching experience, with a majority of that time spent in reading intervention. Jerren has a passion for growing our readers who struggle to “crack the reading code” and fostering a love of reading in those children.

Morgan Thomas

Morgan Thomas is a Literacy Coach for Wooster City Schools. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Master’s Degree in Education with a Literacy Focus from Akron University. Morgan has over 10 years of teaching experience and has taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Reading to Third & Fourth Graders. Morgan loves building relationships with students and teachers!

Ashley Tomassetti

3rd Grade Teacher

Ashley is a 3rd grade teacher in Wooster City Schools. She has been teaching for 13 years, 11 of those years in 3rd grade. She has her Master's Degree in Technology Integration with a focus on differentiated instruction from Graceland University. She is super passionate about using technology in the math classroom, getting kids to understand that math isn't just numbers ,this is where coding comes in! This year we've been working really hard to connect literacy and math with all of our coding sessions and I hope you find it useful too!

Jen Wright

Language Arts Teacher

Jennifer Wright has served as an educator and administrator for 19 years in both domestic and international classrooms and school systems. For 10 of those years, she was an Assistant Principal as well as the Director of Secondary Curriculum at Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton, England while simultaneously teaching Language Arts for grades 9-12 and the collegiate level. During her teaching of Language Arts in Colorado, she was privileged to have been chosen as a Mentor Teacher with the nationwide Teacher Assessment Program, mentoring and coaching teachers. Jennifer has also worked with multiple school board committees as an education consultant in the areas of school development and curriculum and instruction.
