As part of the PSHE curriculum, Relationships and Health Education is taught across all year groups. This website is designed to help you understand the resources we use to teach these lessons. These lessons are designed to help pupils:
recognise and use the scientific names for their body parts
understand that their body belongs to them and they have the right to say no to anything that feels inappropriate
to understand how their bodies change during the process of puberty (Year 4-6).
to know what makes a family and why families are important.
As Woodlands took part in the FGM project in Ealing, pupils in Year 3 - 6 will have a lesson on FGM, which focuses on the importance of equality for girls/women around the world. All lessons for Relationships and Health Education are statutory, with the exception of the lessons on FGM and Year 6's on Reproduction (lesson 4).
If you would like to withdraw consent for your child to take part in these lessons stated above, please put it in writing to the headteacher Ms Hasker. Your child will then not be in the lesson when it is taught.
