Good afternoon parents,
You should have received the first progress check today(Friday). These are useful to keep students accountable for their progress and helps all of be proactive in helping students begin this new year forming habits that will enable them to be successful now and throughout life. Those in Performing Arts and Athletics can use this process for what was just mentioned and preparing for High School Athletics. Thank you all who have been volunteering for Lunch Supervision, it has been a tremendous blessing.
Our Parent Teacher conferences will be Oct 16 and 17. If you have concerns now, reach out to your students teacher and perhaps set up a time now to address any concerns that you may have at this time. It is always good to be a little proactive. Corrections now are a lot easier to make.
Remember that we will also be checking eligibility for athletes and performing art students. the 9/12 and 10/10 checks will be proactive. The 10/24 Official check will determine if students will remain eligible for games and performances.
P.I.L.A
Which stands for Participation - Involvement - Leadership - Award, is an opportunity for students to add to their academic and athletic involvement on campus and community. This program encourages students to take ownership of their time and experience while on the WCMS campus. In doing so, they give back and help our campus and community and make it a better place. I attached a copy. If you and your child are interested, please read through it and turn in the requested form.
See You At The Pole
On Sept 24 beginning at 7:30 we will be taking part in the See You At The Pole event that is happening nationwide. Here is some sample prayers and verses and prayer ideas that can be used now at home and throughout the year
Yearbook
This year Lindsay Hardin and Jennifer Prado has voulnteered to produce this year's yearbook. Since they can't be everywhere at one time, they would appreciate pictures that you may take at any school event. You can email them with your pictures at: woodlandchristianMSyearbook@gmail.com
A new year can sometimes be a new beginning. This is what is so great about Middle School. You get to start fresh each year and each semester. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us of this as Jeremiah tells us -
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;[a]
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
My prayer for all is that each and every family would treasure the love and faithfulness of God and the promise of eternal mercy and grace made possible through the life, sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
4 C's to focus on for the rest of the semester.
1) Consistent attendance,
2) Consistent homework turned in.
3) Consistent time studying for tests.
4) Consistent check of FACTS to monitor the progress of your student
Please encourage your child to make use of their planner so that you can see what needs to be done and what needs to be studied.
FACTS
Don't forget that FACTS is a helpful tool in keeping track of what is going on in the classroom. If you have yet to download the family app please see the tutorial at the bottom of this home page.
