Welcome to the New School Year!

Dear Middle School Families,

Summer is a bit of a paradox. For some, it is a season filled with rest, family time, travel, and unforgettable memories. For others, it can feel like the unraveling of the routines and schedules we work so hard to establish throughout the school year. At times it seems to last forever, and at other times it disappears in the blink of an eye.

Wherever your summer fell on that spectrum, I hope it provided opportunities to slow down, spend time with those you love, and enjoy the incredible world God has created for us. My prayer is that each of you experienced moments of refreshment and renewal.

In just a few short weeks, we will begin another exciting school year. For many families, it will be a return to familiar routines. For others, it marks the beginning of an entirely new chapter. Whether you are returning or joining the Woodland Christian family for the first time, we are thrilled to have you with us.

I am genuinely excited about the year ahead and can't wait to see our campus come alive once again with the energy, curiosity, laughter, and wonderful unpredictability that make middle school such a unique and enjoyable season of life.

As you continue through this page, you'll find much of the information and many of the links that have already been shared in previous emails—organized here in a more convenient, easy-to-navigate format. I encourage you to explore the menu tabs, familiarize yourself with the resources available, and bookmark this page for future reference throughout the school year.

Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to prepare students academically, encourage them personally, and equip them to impact the world for Jesus Christ. We are looking forward to an incredible year together!

August 17 - 1st Day of School Schedule

1st period - 8:25-8:35

3rd period - 8:40-8:50

5th period - 8:55-9:05

7th period - 9:10-9:20

Brunch

2nd period - 9:45-9:55

4th period - 10:00-10:10

6th Period - 10:15 - 10:25

8th period - 10:30 - 10:40

Break - 10:40 - 10:50

Assembly - 10:55 - 12:00

• Alliance Trip (Sept. 9–11):

This year we have chosen to reduce the number of days /nights that we stay at Alliance Redwoods to 3 days and 2 nights. There are a couple of reasons to this decision:

1. With prices rising all around us, we thought that reducing the nights stayed would enable us to lower our student fees by $100 and would help out our school families 

2. We are hoping that a 2 night stay will not seem as stressful to students who are leaving home alone for the first time.

3. Perhaps fewer nights would make it possible for more parents to volunteer as chaperones and not be totally exhausted by Friday.
   If you are interested in chaperoning next year’s trip and have not attended before, please complete a chaperone application. The application can be found on the Documents Page. If you have attended and want to join us again please let me know. With a new California Law, school volunteers will now have to complete a mandated reporter training. The school will provide the test for you.

Lunch Supervision

One of our most valuable volunteer opportunities is helping with Middle School Lunch Supervision.

After students finish eating, they have approximately 30 minutes to socialize, play, and burn off some energy before returning to class. During this time, having additional adults on campus helps us provide a safe, enjoyable, and well-supervised environment for everyone.

Lunch runs from 11:25 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Volunteers simply help supervise student activities, encourage positive interactions, and ensure students remain in their designated areas. No special experience is needed—just a friendly presence and a willingness to invest in our students.

Your time and support make a tremendous difference in the daily life of our middle school. Thank you for partnering with us and for your willingness to serve our school community.

4 C's to focus on for the rest of the semester.

1) Consistent attendance,

 2) Consistent homework turned in.

 3) Consistent time studying for tests. 

4)  Consistent check of  FACTS to monitor the progress of your student

Please encourage your child to make use of their planner so that you can see what needs to be done and what needs to be studied.

Back to School Night

New Families (6th grade and new to WCMS 7th and 8th grade)

5:30-6:15 Find and organize your locker and lock it up, then visit your teachers in their classrooms. You will be able to pick up Syllabi and turn in any pertinent forms.

All Families

6:20-6:50 All parent/student meeting in the theater. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Returning Families
