Year 4

Oceans Away! In Year 4 we have been looking at artists who depict water- David Hockney, Claude Monet and the Japanese Printer Hokusai.

Children designed and made wave prints.

Year 4 have been looking at and discussing Viking Mast heads, children made detailed shaded drawings and then modelled their images into clay forms.

Year 4 have been finding out about The Impressionist Artist Claude Monet, we looked at his paintings and found out about his technique of painting. Here is a link for you to watch and have a go at painting like Monet too. We created our own Monet style paintings and then turned them into calendars to take home.

China, a study through art

Children made detailed painted studies of Chinese dragons.

Printing Chinese Dragons

Polytile printing is one of the hardest things we do in art at Woodhouse, it is very messy using inks and rollers so you have to be very organised. Drawing and cutting into the polytil;e is pretty tricky too, plus you have to make sure your grooves are clear after you have 'inked up'. With all this in mind we think our Chinese inspired dragon prints are pretty awesome!

Beautiful Chinese landscape watercolour paintings.

Ancient Rome in Year 4

We always begin a new project by looking at and discussing images. The children then make a series of sketches and studies, here are some drawings about Ancient Rome.

Year 4 made coiled volcano pots.

Inspired by Roman sculptures, we sketched and made portait sculptures using rolled out clay over scrunched up newspaper.
