ABOUT US
Woodford County High School has a strong tradition of being successful in all forms of music. We are very lucky to have a program that allows students the opportunity to participate in choir, band, jazz band and orchestra. There are roughly 250 students involved in the arts at WCHS. Of these 250 students, roughly 100 of them are involved in choir.
WCHS offers three choirs that meet during the school day: Treble Choir, Concert Choir and Woodford Singers. Woodford Singers meets on gold days during 4th block. This beginner choir is made up of male/bass voices. Â Treble Choir meets on black days during 2nd block. This choir is an intermediate level group, made up of mostly female voices. Chorale meets on gold days during 3rd block. This choir is mostly made up of upperclassmen. Students who want to be in this group must audition to be selected. Many students in this group were once in Woodford Singers or Treble Choir and used that time in to improve before auditioning for Chorale. This group often represents WCHS at festivals, assessment and special concerts.
WCHS also offers three acapella groups that meet during HIVE: Honeybees, Stinger Singers and Mellowjackets. All three groups sing pop acapella music. Honeybees is an SSAA group, Stinger Singers is a TTBB group and Mellowjackets is an SATB group.
WCHS Choirs puts on two concerts every year: A Winter Concert (early December) and Spring Concert (early May).
