To 'kick off' Anti-Bullying Week this year, on Monday 10th November, Post 16 students and staff wore odd socks to celebrate that we are all unique. The theme of the campaign this year, organised by the ABA, is Power for Good- empowering our young people to speak out, support others and build a world where kindness wins. 

 A huge thank you to the TESCO Community Grants programme who awarded Post 16 a grant of £1000.00 to help create a new garden space. As you can see, the students have done a fantastic job 

We would also like to thank Raven Housing Trust in Redhill for their generous donation of woodchip for our new garden and to Groundscapes for delivering it all safely to Post 16 — your support means the world to us! Finally a hug thank you goes to Beth from Post 16 for co-ordinating the whole project. 

We are delighted to announce that our Post-16 team has successfully won a bid to work in partnership with the Surrey Wildlife Trust’s Wilder Project over the next three years. This exciting collaboration will bring together students, staff and parents to enhance our school’s commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

The aim of the project is to enhance biodiversity and bioabundance while helping children develop a lasting connection with nature, ensuring it is valued and protected for generations to come.

Valued at around £20,000 over three years, the project will provide a fantastic opportunity for our students to work alongside environmental experts through a range of hands-on projects, workshops and community initiatives. Together, we will create wildlife-friendly spaces, learn about local ecosystems, and develop real-world environmental skills.

On the 11th June, 2025 the fabulous Woodfield Whirlers performed as part of the East Surrey Dance Festival with a number of other local schools at the Chequer Mead Theatre. For the first time ever, they performed a matinee and evening show, to large, appreciative audiences. A huge thankyou to Sharon for all of her hard work in helping everyone prepare the performance. 

Ex-Post 16 student, Gracie, has just completed a Supported Internship with Nescot.  Her placement was at the Holiday Inn at Epsom Downs. She started in September and by February there was interest in them offering her paid work.  She now has a contract of employment and as the Internship has finished she is working with them as part of the breakfast team.  Her confidence grew during the placement and she was put forward out of all those completing the Internship and won 'Student Success'.  Nescot filmed Gracie and her fellow Intern at the Holiday Inn and asked various questions about the programme. 

Meanwhile, her sister Ellie, also an ex-Woodfield Post 16 student, started a Supported Internship with Nescot in September and is hoping to go to a placement related to catering.  Ellie has also been busy continuing with her volunteering at the Riding for the Disabled alternate Sundays and every Saturday morning at a charity shop.  She also applied and was interviewed for some work experience by Harrison Catering and completed 9 days at Cheam High in the kitchen.  She did a range of tasks from making fruit pots, cooking paninis and after building her confidence, ended up serving over 60 students.

Everyone at Post 16 is so proud of the girls and we can't wait to see how they get on in the future.
