Your weekly round up of events and what's coming up!
Four members of staff from Wood End completed the 10K Winter Walk in Central London on Sunday to raise money for our counselling service in school. They braved the wind and rain and still had a smile at the end. WELL DONE Mr Best, Mr Stainbank, Ms Patel and Ms Jerome.
The Schools Counselling Partnership is working to improve the emotional wellbeing of children, parents, and staff by working with the whole school community.
Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week (3 rd to 7 th February 2025). This is an important opportunity for our children to learn more about themselves and focus on their emotional well-being.
This year’s theme, 'Know Yourself to Grow Yourself”. The theme encourages children to explore their emotions, identify their unique strengths, and understand how self-awareness helps them grow both personally and socially. I will be holding assemblies across the school and to help raise awareness and funds, SCP are selling Inside Out bookmarks for 20p each. They can be purchased from the office.
Own Clothes day Friday 7th February
Also we are holding an own clothes day on Friday 7th February. Children are invited to come dressed in the colours of their favourite Inside Out Character/feeling. Again, this is to raise funds for SCP. Donation of £1 per child.
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to. If you would like to meet Helen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, she is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-10am. You can call/text Helen on 07429 654584 or email her at

The School Council, which is made up from a child from each year group, have decided to have a cake sale on Friday 14th February. The cake sale will raise money for the Schools Counselling Partnership. So please look out for their posters and show plenty of love and buy some cakes on Valentines day.
National Child Measurement Programme 2024/25
This term, our school will be participating in the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). The programme helps monitor children’s health across the country by measuring the height and weight of children in Reception and Year 6 to assess growth and trends in childhood health. In the coming days, letters will be sent home to parents of children in the relevant year groups with more detailed information.
The measurements will be taken by trained healthcare professionals in a respectful and confidential manner. Once complete, you’ll receive your child’s results, along with advice on any next steps if necessary. Your child’s privacy will be maintained throughout. We encourage participation in this important programme, which supports healthier lifestyles for our children. Thank you for your support!
