Your weekly round up of events in school and what's coming up
Hazel class - English
This week in English we prepared for our Three Little Pigs shared writing. We sequenced the story with pictures and simple sentences in small groups and presented them to the class. We also role played the Three Little Pigs.
Cedar Class
This term in geography year 1 have been learning about the United Kingdom! This week we learnt about Wales and the children created their own postcards to send to friends and family. So look out for them you may get one.
Study Books
All Parents from Year 1 to Year 6 would have received an email asking if you would like to order some CGP study books to help with underpinning the learning in school.
Please let us know if you would like to order some books by the 8th February 2024. Books are £3 so a set of 3 will be £9.
Scooters
In recent weeks, there have been reported a few stolen scooters from school. Please take the necessary precautions to safeguard your scooter using a lock wherever possible. Scooters are left at the owners risk. If you have taken the wrong scooter home please return it to the school.
BRASS LESSONS
BRASS tuition re-started on Thursday 11th January. This tuition is open to all pupils in Years 3 to 6. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to start instrumental music lessons. In the past many children have expressed an interest in learning to play an instrument. The current cost of tuition, which compares favourably with the cost of private lessons, is £50.00 (per term) payable online via Parent Mail.
Those pupils who currently take Brass lessons and wish to continue, please log into Parent Mail and pay for this term. Brass instruments will be provided to pupils on hire and may consist of a Trumpet/Tenor/Horn/Euphonium. The music teacher will assess all pupils initially and see which instrument they are most suited to. Lessons usually take place in the afternoon on Thursdays. Pupils MUST remember to bring their own instrument to school on tuition days. If you would like your child to take up this opportunity, please complete payment online via pmx.parentmail.co.uk. Payment must be made before lessons can commence. Please note that Brass Club will begin on Thursday 11th January until Thursday 21st March 2024
Felix
Big thank you to Ms Elloway for helping to distribute Felix this week, we were able to reach and help a lot more parents this week. If you are able to volunteer to help distribute the food on a Thursday afternoon please let us know at the school office or email admin@woodendprimaryschool.com. Thank you.

Seahorse Swim School - Horsenden
We are delighted to inform that we will be running a crash course during the February half term please see details below:
Join us this February Half Term for our 5 day intensive holiday course here at Seahorse Swim School. These are aimed to help children develop their skills as well as improve their confidence in swimming.
