Curriculum Newsletters outline some of the key learning, themes and topics that your child will be encountering throughout the half-term. Please take a moment to look at some of the topics and maybe discuss some of those concepts and topics with your children. Nursery 

Children have enjoyed learning about Eid this week in Nursery. They kept very busy making lanterns, henna patterns and a giant Eid Poster to celebrate.

Your weekly round up of events in school and what's coming up  

Term 3 - Summer 1

Strike Day - 27th April 2023
 As you are aware Teachers continue to strike for fairer funding for schools and better pay.  We have decided to  open the school to  a limited number of classes. Only the classes below will be open for children on the 27th April:
Year 1 Hazel
Year 2 Cherry
Year 3 Maple
Year 4 Sycamore
Year 5 Ash
Year 6 Pine
Year 6 Oak
If your child is NOT in any of these classes they should NOT come to school on that day.

Dance Club -  Booking for Dance club now open via OHM, www.ohmcoaching.co.uk. Open for years  Year 1 to 5.

SATS

Children will take national tests in year 2 and year 6. These test your child’s skill in: English reading,  English grammar,  punctuation, and spelling, and math's.  Results will be in out in July. Next week children will be having mock tests to help them prepare for the actual tests. 

The actual SATS tests will be:

Week commencing 8th May 2023 for Year 6 SATs
Week commencing 22nd May 2023 for Year 2 SATs

School attendance competition 

At Wood End Primary School we believe that everyday counts in school. So to encourage excellent attendance we are running a competition this term.  From 18th April to 28th April every child that attends school on time every day will have their name put into a raffle and 1 lucky winner will be picked from  each phase group ie: Key stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Early years.  The prize will be £10 Amazon Gift Card to spend online!
