Beech Class

Beech class has had a fantastic first Autumn half term. We have so much to tell you! We have settled into our routines and built new friendships.

We had a fantastic time celebrating poetry day, we read Autumn poetry which captured the essence of the season and went on an Autumn walk around the school to observe the seasonal changes. We discussed how Summer transitioned into Autumn. We had the chance to talk about our findings.

Beech class had an enjoyable time noticing the falling leaves from the trees, understanding the nights get longer and the days get shorter. We also spotted a squirrel collecting acorns which we said was preparing to hibernate for the winter period. Beech class managed to find lots of twigs, autumn coloured leaves, conkers and other natural items that inspired us to be creative, creating colourful Autumn art.

In our space week adventure Beech class travelled beyond Earth creating our own water based planets and singing songs about our solar system. We learnt facts about our home planet Earth and the difference between our planet and the planets in our solar system. It was exciting learning about our sun and the planets. We all had a blast!

Beech class had their first ICT lesson and they practise logging onto the laptops and completing a Busythings maths activity which they thoroughly enjoyed. https://www.busythings.co.uk/

Lastly, art week bought out the inner artists in our young learners. We delved into Wassily Kandinsky artwork and created a replica of his famous work squares with concentric circles (1913). We discussed primary colours and mixed them to make secondary colours. We managed to make all the colours in the rainbow and used both primary and secondary to paint our circles. We also had fun experimenting with how to make colours lighter and darker. All of the bright circles we painted made us feel happy just like Kandinsky did when he created this masterpiece!   Ms Burton Reception
