Children have been happily playing and choosing new and interesting activities in class this week. Everyone has been busy reading, painting, sorting objects, writing, drawing, learning to share and most importantly making new friends.
The safety of our pupils and families is our absolute priority. We kindly remind all parents and carers to drive with extreme caution, patience, and vigilance at all times when on the school grounds.
Obey the Speed Limit: The speed limit across the entire school site is strictly 5 mph.
Stay Alert: Please eliminate all distractions (including mobile phone use) and watch out for young children who may move unpredictably.
Park Responsibly: Only park in designated areas, avoid idling, and keep all footpaths and pedestrian gates completely clear.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our entire school community safe!
Well done to the staff including, Mr Stainbank, Mr Best, Ms Patel and Ms Jerome who either ran or walked the 26 miles on Saturday the 12th September to raise money for the school counselling service. Please help us keep this much needed service in our schools by donating anything that you can afford to: https://gofund.me/23ffe0f74
A school welfare room is a dedicated, quiet space managed by staff who are first aid trained, it is located close to school office. Students are welcome to visit during the day if they need personal support during the school day. If your child has antibiotics prescribed to them by a doctor and they need to be administered during the day Ms Taylor or Ms Li can help with this. If you have any medical updates about your child please visit the welfare room before the start of the school day and collect any medication before 3.30pm if possible. Please ensure any medication or asthma pumps are in date when leaving in school.
A quick reminder of who to approach if you ever have a concern about your child, or any child.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr Best. He has overall responsibility for safeguarding across the school, supported by a team of deputy DSLs who are trained to the same level and can help whenever the DSL isn't available. Our deputy DSLs are Mr Stainbank, Mrs Donohue and Mr Greeves.
You don't need to have "proof" of something being wrong to speak to us — if something feels off, we'd always rather hear from you and look into it together.
You can speak to any member of staff, who will pass your concern on straight away, or contact the office to ask for the safeguarding team directly.
We're here, and we're listening.
Kind regards,
Chris Best
As the children become more familiar with Nursery and Reception, we are beginning to see new friendships forming and children growing in confidence as part of their class.
Making friends is a big part of life in EYFS, but it doesn’t always happen straight away. Some children will quickly seek others out, while others may prefer to watch, play alongside someone or stay close to a familiar adult at first. All of these are perfectly normal ways of building confidence and relationships.
Through play, children are learning important skills such as taking turns, sharing ideas, joining in with games and beginning to understand how others might be feeling. We support them with simple language they can use when they are unsure how to join in.
Supporting your child: Talk positively about the children in their class and practise simple phrases such as “Can I play too?”, “Shall we build together?” or “Can I have a turn next?”
A question to try: Instead of “Who is your best friend?”, try “Who did you enjoy playing with today?” This takes away the pressure to have one particular ‘best friend’ and opens up a lovely conversation about their day.
