Your weekly round up of events in school and what's coming up
Disco in School Reception, Year 5 and 6, will have the opportunity to go to their school disco on the 30th November 2023, between 3.30pm and 4.15pm. If you would like them to attend please send in a £1 with your child in an envelope marked disco or drop it into the school office. There will be refreshments available at the disco and children should wear school uniform. If you do not wish your child to attend please collect them as usual at 3.30pm.
Pine Class - Started off our class assemblies this year. The subject was the history of women and voting in the UK. The children had a great time learning their lines and using their drama skills, well done. Next week on Thursday 30th November Oak Class will do an assembly on Science
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 International Afternoon - Thursday 23rd November
Thank you to all the parents that attended the International afternoon and brought along some amazing food to share with other parents, nothing brings people together than sharing food.
Local Community
As part of the curriculum children learn about the police, ambulance and fire services, the Air Ambulance helicopter unexpectedly visited the school this week and children got to see the emergency Helicopter in action. They needed a large landing spot and used our field to attend to an incident outside of school. Tobi the pilot was happy for the available parking spot.
Scooters and Bikes in school
Its great to see children confidently riding their bikes and scooters. To stop any harm to pedestrians please can you not ride them on school grounds for the safety of all.

Parent Governor opportunity
Our current parent governor representatives (Charity Jones and Magdalena Walc-Ziobro) are coming to the end of their terms. They are willing to continue to stand and represent our school family. However if you are interested in this role or would like to find out more, please email the school at admin@woodendprimaryschool.com.
Special time
Children naturally look to us for nurturing and guidance. If your child gets easily dysregulated or finds it hard to follow instruction, it is a sign that your relationship needs strengthening. Have you tried implementing ‘special time’? Try to spend half an hour of special time, one on one, every day if you can or once or twice a week if not.
Take it in turns to choose an activity (no screens, computer games or movies as you want to be looking at each other not at a screen, phones off). Ideas include doing something creative, use cream to give each other hand or foot massages, dance or sing together, blow bubbles etc. It gives an opportunity to connect with our children in a meaningful way and has a huge impact. If you have more than one child you will need to do this with each child.
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to. If you would like to meet Helen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, she is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-10am. Christmas will soon be here and we will have a Wood End Primary School Christmas Fair on Tuesday 12th December 2023. If you would like contribute items for the fair such as making some christmas treats or donate a prize for the christmas raffle please email the school office on admin@woodendprimaryschool.com
