Your weekly round up of events
Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
A very warm welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful, restful break and managed to enjoy some quality time with friends and family.
There is always a particular kind of magic in the air during the first week of a new term. The corridors, which felt strangely quiet just a few days ago, are once again filled with the energy, laughter, and curiosity that our children bring with them. It is truly great to have everyone back.
As we dive into the new term, I want to share a few quick reminders to help us all get back into the swing of things:
Routine is Important: Re-establishing those morning and bedtime routines early on makes a world of difference to how the children settle into their learning.
Uniform & PE Kit: Thank you for ensuring the children look so smart in their uniforms. Please remember to double check the children have the correct PE kit and that all items are clearly labeled.
Attendance & Punctuality: Every minute of learning counts. We aim for all children to be in their classrooms, ready to go, by the start of the school day at 8.50am.
We have an incredibly busy and exciting term planned, filled with new topics, sporting events, and creative projects. Our teachers have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the curriculum is as engaging and challenging as ever.
I also want to extend a huge thank you to our site team and staff who worked throughout the holidays to ensure the school was clean, safe, and ready for our return.
We are so proud of our school community and the supportive environment we build together. Here’s to a term filled with growth, discovery, and plenty of "lightbulb" moments.
Kind regards,
Mr Stainbank

Message from BBC:
BBC are casting a warm new BBC series called Will You Be My Friend?, about childhood friendships.
We’re looking for children aged 5 to 8 who find it hard to make friends - whether that's feeling shy, getting overwhelmed around other children, or struggling in social situations. Across three half-days, child psychologists help each child build confidence and social skills, before they are sensitively matched on a play date with a potential new friend from their local area. Filming will take place during the summer holidays in July and August 2026.
If you feel your child would benefit and would like to take part, parents can apply at :https://eu.castitreach.com/ag/fivemilefilms/wybmfs1/welcome.html

Sometimes harm can come from other children — bullying, unwanted touching or peer pressure. We take this seriously and teach pupils how to recognise, report and respect boundaries.
Encourage your child to talk openly about friendships and consent, and remind them that adults will always listen.
Building Confidence Through Challenge
In EYFS, we encourage children to try new things—even when they feel a little tricky. Whether it’s climbing, building, speaking in a group, or solving a problem, these small challenges help children grow in confidence.
You may hear your child say, “I can’t do it.” This is a normal and important part of learning. We like to remind children that they "can't do it YET." We gently support them to keep trying, showing that effort matters more than getting things right the first time.
At home, you might try: Encouraging your child to have a go before stepping in. Phrases like “Let’s try together” or “You’re nearly there” can really help. Encouraging your child to complete a small challenge independently, such as building something or putting on their coat, can really help develop their confidence and resilience.
If you require the wrap around provision, please could we please ask that all parents book in via Arbor as we are getting near to capacity on some mornings and afternoons and we would hate to turn anybody away. This will allow school to ensure the correct number of staff are in place and that there is enough food for all the children attending.

Are a community of wildlife enthusiasts protecting, encouraging and celebrating nature through education, collaboration and conservation.
EWG@Costons Lane Nature Reserve
Over the past four years, EWG has transformed the former Costons Lane allotments from a neglected site into a thriving wildlife sanctuary, through volunteer effort. Creating diverse habitats, including a wildlife garden, wildflower meadow, pond, hedgerow and woodland, demonstrating what community can achieve when they collaborate to care for shared spaces.
EWG hold volunteer days once a month at which everyone is welcome, whether you want to help out with the work or enjoy the reserve at leisure. In addition to our wild habitats, we have a bird hide overlooking the pond and a sunny deck to sit back and relax with a cup of tea. Children must be accompanied by an adult. You could spot foxes, woodpeckers, slow worms, newts, frogs, spiders, insects, dragonflies, butterflies, Red Kites, and all manner of pondlife. If you are passionate about nature and keen to help with conservation in Ealing please click on the link or join the EWG facebook page:

Your perspective is one of our most valuable tools for growth! We would like to invite all parents and carers to complete our Annual Governor Survey. This feedback is essential in helping our Governing Body monitor the school’s performance and ensure we are meeting the needs of our children. By sharing your thoughts, you provide the insights we need to plan effectively for future improvements and celebrate our current successes.
