Our plant scientists this week have been getting hands on and planting various blubs and seeds and monitoring them as they grow at different temperatures to see how they germinate.
The Science fair was an educational and fun afternoon for all. The children were sharing their fantastic learning across the school, all the way from nursery to year 6. Each class got to see what all other year groups had been learning. There were children from each year group explaining their learning well and showing the science experiments to parents and children with a lot of knowledge and confidence. Miss Bampton.
Parents are permitted to drive into the car park before 8.30am to drop children to Breakfast club and after 4pm to collect children from afterschool club. Please be mindful that the car park at the front of the school is very narrow with hidden areas and remain vigilant for small children on site. Please maintain a very slow speed of 5 mph on site. The access must be kept clear at all times and please turn off your engine to reduce pollution. If there are no spaces in the car park please find a space on the Whitton Avenue.

One of the most important things we nurture in EYFS is a genuine love of learning. When children are curious, motivated, and excited to explore the world around them, they develop the confidence to try new things, ask questions, and become independent learners.
In the early years, learning does not just happen through formal activities—it happens through play, exploration, conversation, creativity, and everyday experiences. Children learn best when they feel engaged, interested, and emotionally secure.
A love of learning often looks different for every child. For some children, it may be asking endless questions about dinosaurs, space, or insects. For others, it might be building models, pretending to be a shopkeeper, painting for long periods, or becoming completely absorbed in a story. These moments of deep engagement are incredibly valuable and are a key part of how young children learn.
In EYFS, we encourage children to:
Explore their own ideas
Investigate and experiment
Ask questions and think critically
Take risks in their learning
Develop confidence in their own abilities
We celebrate effort, curiosity, and perseverance rather than focusing only on getting things “right.” This helps children develop positive attitudes towards learning that can stay with them throughout their school journey.
Children are much more likely to become motivated learners when they see adults showing enthusiasm too. Sharing excitement, wonder, and interest alongside children helps them feel that learning is enjoyable and meaningful.
It is important to remember that young children do not need constant formal teaching activities. Some of the richest learning happens through play, conversation, imagination, and shared experiences with family.
Try this at home:
Spend time exploring something your child is currently interested in. This could be reading a book together, building something, going on a nature walk, baking, or simply talking about their ideas and questions. Following their interests helps children feel valued and encourages deeper engagement in learning.

Children are growing up in an increasingly digital world, and while technology brings many benefits, it also brings significant safeguarding risks. We are increasingly seeing cases nationally — and across schools — where children are accessing online content that is not appropriate for their age or stage of development. This can include violent material, gambling-style games, sexual content, and pornography, often through social media, group chats, gaming platforms or unrestricted internet access.
At primary school age, children are rarely emotionally ready to process this type of content safely. Exposure can affect wellbeing, relationships, behaviour, emotional development and children’s understanding of what is normal or acceptable. Even when access is accidental, the impact can be significant.
We strongly encourage all parents to actively supervise children’s online activity, including knowing what apps and games they use, checking age ratings, using parental controls, and ensuring devices are not used unsupervised late at night or behind closed doors. Open conversations, clear boundaries and regular monitoring are essential parts of keeping children safe online.
