13th June 2025
Your weekly round up of events and what's coming up!
The Year 4 students attended a cricket festival at Perivale Park on Wednesday this week. We finished 2nd in our bracket and 5th in the tournament (out of 12 teams). Every single student represented Wood End proudly, showcasing our values of Belief, Kindness, Community and the pursuit of a dream. They played together as team, supporting and cheering each other on. They displayed sportsmanship in victory and defeat. A huge success for the students as individuals and as a Wood End Team. I was very proud of the team and they should all be proud of themselves. Mr Misfud, Year 4 Teacher.
(Josh received an MVP mug and Shakeel received a bracelet for distinguished effort.)
Our Elms Sports winner this term is Hannah in year 2
Well done great team spirit and hard work.
Thank you to all the sweets received this Friday for our Sweet Tombola, you will have a chance at winning some of those and some amazing prizes on Friday.
School will close for all children at 1.30pm on Friday 20th June. Please collect your child at 1.30pm and if you live close by return at 2pm and come to the Wood End Primary School Fair.
There will be games, raffle prizes, food, music, raffle game and bouncy castle to enjoy.
The children have been camping on the field, cooking and playing team building games. Parents have no doubt been wondering what do with their spare evening. Below is a selection of pictures of just some of the activities the children have been doing.
We know that starting nursery or reception is a big step for children – and being toilet trained is an important part of that journey.
To support families, we are holding a Toileting Readiness Information Session aimed at helping parents and carers feel confident about this next stage.
This session will cover:
Practical strategies to support your child at home
Common challenges (e.g. accidents, fear of the toilet) and how to overcome them
How we support toileting routines in nursery/reception
Where to get further help if needed (e.g. health visitor support, NHS advice)
Rochelle Cummings will present the session for new Nursery and Reception families on Monday 7th July 2025 at 2.30pm to 3.30pm, please come along.
Lots of Mums and some Dads joined the children this week to make cards with the children. There were some very creative parents and even more creative poem writing inside the cards. Thank you for coming along it is a real treat for the children.
If your child came home this week wanting to start drumming lessons don't be surprised. Paul from the Rhythm Academy came in to school to do a drumming assembly. Paul will be back offering some free taster sessions for the children.
The Rhythm Academy contact details are paul@therhythmacademy.co.uk
Thank you to all the parent helpers we have had helping this year, without you we may not have be able to do the trips and events that we have. If you do decide to volunteer for an event please do not bring any younger children or babies with you as will be assisting the teacher and you will be allocated class children to your care. Thank you
Year 1 took part in a science scavenger hunt around the local area! We searched for evergreen trees, deciduous trees and wildflowers and of course had an important snack. Thank you to all the parents that helped on the day.
