Thank you!

I would like to thank all staff, parents, carers and pupils for making this such a fantastic first term. It has been filled with loads of exciting learning. It has also been wonderful to see all the progress the children have made, which has made us all very proud. May I take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and your attendance at all our events this term.

I would like to wish you all an enjoyable holiday, Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas in the Community

Many children and parents came up for the lights to be switched on our local Christmas tree at Oldfield Circus. Children left Christmas messages for Santa in the clear baubles that they decorated for the tree. Hopefully this will be a start of  a new tradition

OAK Class - Enjoyed performing their assembly on science and the famous people behind the inventions.

Maple class changes

I am writing to let you know that Miss Madgwick will be leaving Wood End Primary School at the end of this term as she is relocating. Since joining us, Miss Madgwick has proven herself to be an excellent class teacher and had an impact on the children she has taught and we have very much enjoyed having her as part of our school community.

I am pleased to inform you that we have appointed Mrs Patel to teach Maple class for the rest of the academic year. She is a very experienced teacher across a range of settings and age groups and I am confident she will be an excellent fit for our school and Maple class.

Thank you for your continued support Mr Stainbank

Hazel Class

This week in Hazel class we were invited to a picnic for Design Technology. We talked about healthy foods to bring to a picnic and had a go at making our own fruit skewers.

Church visit - Reception

Children visited our local church St Barnabas this week. They enjoyed some cake and made angels out of paper plates. It was a lovely calming trip for reception children, staff and parent helpers. Thank you to all those that helped

Inner Compass
Children develop their ‘inner compass’ every day. They learn primarily by the example you set and the family culture that you create. The most powerful way to teach a child a skill is to model it. When you treat others (including your child) with respect, when you apologise and when you regulate your emotions- then your child learns to do the same.

Their inner compass will take shape from yours. In addition, your child constantly needs to make difficult choices so instead of telling them off and shaming them for making a “poor” choice, use it as an opportunity to develop that compass: help him reflect on how they feel and explain that we are all tempted to take the easy way over the right way: we are not perfect but we can do better. In order to help your child WANT to do the right thing, make sure your limits are reasonable and age-appropriate. Set them up for success so that they can feel good about being a person who does the right thing. Finally, help your child repair relationships following any damage and remember to stay connected: when your child feels you are on their side, they are more likely to WANT to follow your lead.

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.  If you would like to meet Helen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, she is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-10am. You can call/text Helen on 07429 654584 or email her at helen@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
