Short-video platforms can expose children to adult themes or misinformation. Use “restricted mode” and watch some clips together so you understand the content they see.
Encourage critical thinking: “Is this real?”, “Who made this video?” and “How does it make you feel?” Children learn digital resilience by talking about what they watch.
This term, the children in Year 1 have been learning about Northolt in the past. This week, they looked at pictures of old shops that used to be in Oldfield Circus and investigated what they thought each shop might have been. They also compared the buildings and shops from the past with those in the present.
Please note parking restrictions have changed around Oldfield circus so please check signage so you don't get caught out when parking.
It was great to see lots of parents coming to the first Class Assembly of the academic year. Pine class did a lovely assembly about World War 1 and remembering those that took part. Well done Pine class. Oak class Assembly will be next week.
Life is full of changes—moving to a new school, welcoming a new sibling, changes at home, or adjusting to new routines.
While change can bring exciting opportunities, it can also feel uncertain and stressful for children and young people. During these times, your child may experience a range of emotions such as anxiety, sadness, or frustration. They might also show changes in behaviour like withdrawal, moodiness, or difficulty concentrating.
How Parents and Carers Can Help
Talk openly and honestly Encourage your child to share their feelings and questions. Let them know it’s normal to feel a mix of emotions. Maintain routines where possible Keeping regular mealtimes, bedtimes, and activities helps children feel secure. Prepare them in advance Where possible, talk about upcoming changes before they happen to reduce uncertainty.
Provide reassurance and patience Let your child know you are there for them and that it’s okay to take time to adjust.
Encourage positive coping strategies Support activities that help your child relax and express themselves—like drawing, playing, or talking. Stay connected with school Inform teachers or pastoral staff about changes so we can support your child’s emotional and academic wellbeing.
Change can be challenging but also an opportunity for growth. With your love and support, your child can build resilience and confidence to thrive through life’s transitions.
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to. If you would like to meet Helen Thorp for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Wednesdays from 9-10am. You can call/text 07429654584 or email helen@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk

🎄 Parent Helpers Needed for Upcoming Events!
We have many exciting events happening in school throughout the year, and we are always grateful for the support of our wonderful parents. With the Christmas craft fair approaching, we are looking for parent helpers to assist on the day or to contribute in other ways..
Donations such as new or nearly-new toys, or home-baked cakes or cookies to sell at the fair, would be very much appreciated. If you are able to help in any way, please let us know — we would love for more parents to get involved and be part of these special school moments.
Thank you for your continued support! 🎁✨
As part of our commitment to the OPAL program, we actively encourage outdoor play in all weathers. We believe that connecting with nature and having the freedom to explore different terrains is vital for physical and emotional development. This commitment means our grassed areas are almost always open for play. We have added a lot of new play areas which are absolutely loved by the children. So that we can keep school areas clean please provide alternative shoes for children for the wet and muddy days. Required Footwear for Grass Play:
A pair of wellington boots (wellies) OR
A pair of old/alternative trainers (specifically for outdoor use). Clearly labels with your child's name. Thank you
