Your weekly round up of events in school and what's coming up
Year 2 SATs
Mrs Karim would like to thank all year 2 parents/carers for their support in the run up to SATs. It has been great seeing parents/carers so involved in ensuring their children reach their full potential. Thank you to all who have attended the workshops, boosters, completed the extra tasks at home and filled in surveys so we can continue to improve and provide the best that the children truly deserve.
Ace Adventures - Year 6
Year 6 children took part in Ace Adventures. They did team and confidence building games. Learning how to put up and take down tents that they would later be spending the night in. They also tried archery and many other fun activities. Year 5 children will have a similar experience next month.
A few quotes from the children that stayed over:
'Sleeping over with friends was sooo much fun'
'Treasure hunting was the best bit'
'I never tried Archery before but I was quite good at it'
Mindful gardening
As many of you know it is peak growing season, we have been kindly gifted a range of young vegetable plants from Mind Food which promotes well being by getting in touch with nature through plants. Year 6 children spent a morning planting the delicate plants and year 3 and 4 will be looking after them.
Reception Classes
Children watched the tiny caterpillars make a cocoon
They watched them become butterflies
Then they saw the butterflies fly away to start their new life. A lovely way for children to learn about life cycle
Year 4
Sycamore Class
Were learning about the Byzantine empire monuments and we recreated the famous mosaic from Hagia Sophia.
Using acrylic paint. Then we created our own mosaics, inspired by the Roman Empire.
The Space
Join us on the Thames Path Challenge and help us raise much needed funds to support emotional wellbeing in our school!
Thames Path Challenge - 9th/10th September 2023
The Schools Counselling Partnership (SCP) are looking for people to join a team for this year’s Thames Path Challenge 2023.
As I am sure you are aware the pressure on mental health services is huge with waiting lists for CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) reaching 18-24 months and adult mental health services equally stretched.
The Schools Counselling Partnership offers therapeutic support for our whole school community - children, young people, parents, carers and teaching staff. They work in our school along with 45 other schools across London, predominantly in Ealing and Harrow.
With rising costs and no real terms increase in school budgets some very difficult decisions are having to be made about what we pay for and this may jeopardise future service provision. Schools Counselling Partnership are trying to raise fund to ensure this much needed provision remains in our school.
Evidence shows that exercise, connection to others and giving back hugely improves your overall wellbeing and combats anxiety and stress. Participating in an event like the Thames Path Challenge ticks many of these boxes.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September starting at Fulham Palace you can choose to walk, jog or run 25km (to Hampton Court), 50km to Runnymede or the full 100km to Henley.
Why not set yourself a challenge and take part!
In return for your participation and fundraising efforts on their behalf SCP will pay your registration fees which include refreshments throughout the day, your t-shirts/bib for the day.
If you would like to join, please contact Toni Medcalf, Schools Counselling Partnership, info@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk. Full details for the event can be found at Thames Path Challenge - Ultra Challenge
