Your weekly round up of events and what's coming up!
At Wood End Primary, we believe in teaching our children the importance of looking after their environment—and we know that a tidy community starts with all of us! Parents and carers can support this by downloading the 'Love Clean Streets' app, available at https://lovecleanstreets.info. The app makes it quick and easy to report issues like litter, fly-tipping, or graffiti directly to the local council. Simply snap a photo, add a brief description, and submit—it only takes a minute! By working together, we can help keep our neighbourhood clean, safe, and a place we’re all proud to live in.
Year 5 children went to Islip Manor School (formerly known as Northolt High) where they got to take part in a science lesson, giving children a taste of high school.
Year 1 Visited St Barnabas Church as part of their RE topic on Christianity. The children enjoyed exploring the different parts of the church, such as the altar and font, and learned about how the space is used for worship and special celebrations.
We have sold a fantastic £691.00 at the book fair this year, which means lots of fresh new books for school.
Wear Red day charity event raised £224.00 thank you all to those that contributed.
In Year 2 children were learning about mixing secondary and primary colours together to make different shades and colours.
Year 4 have been getting creative with paints also. The aim was to learn the technique of layering paints to make painting seem 3D, using shadows and highlights. They painted courgettes, carrots and peppers in different tones and created some lovely masterpieces.

Parental controls help block unsuitable content and limit screen time. Most broadband providers, games consoles, and phones include free safety settings.
Spend a few minutes checking devices together — it’s also a good chance to talk about safe online behaviour. Children are more likely to follow rules they’ve helped set.
Nurturing Yourself While Nurturing Your Child
Self-care is essential for all parents. Not only to stay patient, but also to keep finding joy and delight that is present everyday with your children- even on the difficult ones. Children are happier and will cooperate more when you are joyful, calm and present. When you are feeling stressed, they may believe it is their fault, feel anxious and that they are not good enough. Your big job then, is to make sure you are parenting yourself just as well as you are parenting your child.
How can parents help?
Try to tune into yourself as much as possible throughout the day. Take deep breaths whenever you can, breathing in calm and breathing out stress. When you are feeling irritable, it is important to stop and think about what it is you need right now to stay balanced: can you sit outside for 5mins or put on some music and dance? Have a glass of water? Plan something you can do for yourself later, once they are in bed. You can also find ways to nurture yourself through times in the day that tend to be most difficult. Perhaps you can drink a cup of tea during bedtime stories or start evening routine a little earlier.
Finally, being present and slowing down will help you to take in the joy of every moment with your child and will replenish your spirit.
Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to. If you would like to meet Helen Thorp for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, they are available on Wednesdays from 9-10am. You can call/text 07429654584 or email helen@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
