All children to wear P.E. kit
Children enjoyed some french activities in school this week, in one of tasks they were given the job of building the Eiffel tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows. Thank you to all the children and parents that braved the heat and visited the French Cafe and got some cold ice lollies.
Get ready to cheer on Mr Stainbank and Mr Best as they push their physical limits for a fantastic cause! On Saturday, 5th September 2026, our two brave staff members will be competing in the grueling Gymrace London to raise vital resources for our school. This intense fitness challenge will see them tackling everything from a 50m sled push, heavy dumbbell lunges, and rowing, to a brutal series of 1km runs. They are putting in the training, and we need your help to back them up! Parents and carers can support their incredible efforts by scanning the QR code on the flyer or clicking on the link below to purchase items directly from our Wood End Primary Amazon Wishlist, ensuring all donations go straight toward enhancing our school environment. For more details on their massive challenge, visit www.gymrace.com. Let's rally together and show them our full Wood End support by clicking on this link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2XGW84I2PCPB3?ref_=wl_share
This week, the children had the exciting opportunity to meet their new teachers and begin thinking about the next stage of their school journey. Transition can bring a mixture of emotions, including excitement, curiosity, and sometimes uncertainty—all of which are completely normal.
These moments also give us a chance to reflect on how much the children have grown throughout the year. Many who began the year needing reassurance are now more confident, independent, and ready to embrace new challenges.
In school, we support transition by talking positively about change, building familiarity, and helping children feel safe and secure.
At home, you might try: Talking with your child about their new class and encouraging them to share how they are feeling. Ask your child one thing they are excited about for next year and one thing they would like to know more about.

Group chats can be a great way for children to stay in touch with friends, but they can also present challenges. Messages are often sent quickly, without time to think, and misunderstandings can escalate rapidly. Unkind comments, exclusion from groups, sharing of inappropriate content, or pressure to join conversations can all have a significant impact on children's wellbeing.
Many parents are surprised to learn how quickly children can be added to large group chats or exposed to conversations that are not appropriate for their age. It is important to remember that even if your child is not actively contributing, they may still be seeing content that makes them uncomfortable or upset. Regularly checking who your child is communicating with online and talking openly about their experiences can help identify concerns early.
We encourage families to discuss expectations around messaging apps, including being respectful online, leaving conversations that feel uncomfortable, and speaking to a trusted adult if something worries them. As with all aspects of online safety, supervision, communication and clear boundaries are key to keeping children safe.

Fundraising
Join the Thames Path Challenge - Saturday 12 September! Parents, carers and school staff are warmly invited to take part in the Thames Path Challenge this September to raise vital funds for Schools Counselling Partnership (SCP).
Choose your challenge and take part your way — walk, jog or run: 25km 50km 100km
Every step will help raise essential funds so SCP can continue providing counselling support for our children. Registration is free - Schools Counselling Partnership will pay your registration fee.
Why we need your support
Children and young people are facing growing emotional pressures. Across England: Around 1 in 5 pupils are now identified as having SEND needs. Over 638,000 children currently have an EHCP, with numbers continuing to rise each year. Increasing numbers of children are accessing mental health services for anxiety, low mood, trauma and emotional distress.
Many children receive their first professional emotional support through counselling provided in school.
SCP supports children, young people, parents/carers and teaching staff in school, helping them manage anxiety, bereavement, family change, friendship difficulties and other challenges that can affect wellbeing and learning.
All you need to do is commit to fundraising — every pound raised helps us support more children in school. To register simply click HERE.
Looking after children’s teeth is an important part of keeping them healthy, happy and ready to learn. A new dental access pilot set up by North West London Integrated Care Board, working with Ealing Council, NHS England and local dental practices is now available in Ealing to help children and young people aged 0–16 get the NHS dental care they need. This is especially aimed at families who may have found it difficult to get an appointment, have not seen an NHS dentist in the last year, or live in areas of higher need. The dental offer includes extended appointment times for children particularly useful for those that may be a bit nervous about seeing the dentist.
Families can contact one of the three participating dental practices in the area to book an appointment
* Dental Beauty Acton: 191 High St, Acton, W3 9DD 020 8992 6681
* Cornerstone Dental Practice: 137 High Street, Acton, W3 6LY 020 8992 3721
* N. Tavakoli Dental Surgery: 152 Lady Margaret Rd, Southall UB1 2RW 020 8574 4666
If a child has not seen a dentist recently, this is a great opportunity to get their dental health checked and make sure they have the support they might need.
Thanks
